Spamming is fine for a while, it even has a place in off topic forums like the general one. But when every single post in the cs forum gets a reply saying

This is obviously a hot topic so I shall remind you.... Xenon_2000 personally led a hate campaign against me cos I spammed so much... so if you lot (I mention no names ch3tan) are gonna flame off at him, j00 can flame off at me too. And I can quite confidently say that Wij, Tug and others have also had spamming phases at least as bad as mine or his.
That said, I do think there is a limit to the kind of spam that is acceptable, and though I haven't seen anything like all of anybody's posts I will say that there are some ppl who are going rather over the limit. Norin Radd has posted a bunch of unpopular threads (well, unpopular after there got too many of them, see the Norin Radd thread by Carliealpha I think) and though I can't pick any out of the air I know there are plenty of ppl who are not Mr Target who also post their one line threads with the grins and other smileys. May I quote something I found on the Norin Radd thread, actually in reply to one of MT's messages.
I have actually found most of MT's posts quite amusing. Perhaps none of you were actually prepared to find anything funny, so you weren't amused. It's quite commonly known that if you think or know something is impossible then you will ignore it if you see it.
Anyway, if you got this far, thanks for reading my little point.

Okay, I'm a new boy to the Barryworld forum only registered this month (and already on 150 posts, heh). I've seen many forums in my time and regularly post on a total of none of them.
The thing that attracted me to this one was the natural flow of speech and diversity of topic. Even in one thread. (The Jennifer Lopez one was the clincher for me.)
The one-word or smiley answer is expessive in itself and makes the Barrysworld general forum one of the most amusing and fast-paced there is. Dammit, it's funny! It has comic timing. And it's all due to people like Wij, TUG and Moving Target.
What's the propblem with 'spamming' as you put it? Does it put an undue load on the server? Does it fill limited forum space? Does it take up busy people's valuable time to read a word or interpret a smiley? My arse it does.
In conclusion then:

You get me all wrong mungo, Moving Target is occasionally funny, but when he does the same answer again and agian it gets old.
See the amount of sleep smilies he does in the cs forums. I am not against him posting, and he can spam here its "general" anything goes. The game related forums get silly when u have the same smilie response to all 5 threads that day. It conveys no relevence to what is being discussed half the time. MT has occasionally responded in a nonspam way, agreeing and or disagreeing but its soo damn rare.

a) it's not a rule for any comments to be relevent or highly amusing, he didn't start by insulting anyone or throwing abuse (that I could see)
b)If its an irrelevent response then at least it takes you a split second to see that, so it's not a lot of waste of your time.
c) a smilie is still a form of expression even on its own.
