I'm with Lester (no not that way)

Inverted and Mouse2 = forward

*sigh* I remember LAN party where I had to make transition from keyboard to mouse cos me mate ([NME]MrBassman for those Q2 UKCCL heads out there) was whooping my arse at Quake.

Took a good few hours and a good few Stellas before I could turn a corner first time....good times them.

I am numeric keypad man. All of them are used for movement, fast weapon switches, or radio binds. The Ins-Pg Down keys are various things, backspace is reload, and some weapon binds over the far left. Mouse 1 fires, Mouse 2 jumps, Mouse 3 and the wheel are rcon logins (I have 12, I need a script), Mouse 4 is zoom (Bound it for iron sights in OFP, ended up sticking it in for all games), Mouse 5 is a walk toggle.

Happy now? Are you?

mine

inverted mouse, movement on esdf

inverted because someone convinced me a while back. if you think about the mouse as the back of your head (as such). When you wish to make your character look at the floor, you would move the back of your head upwards. Thus moving the mouse upwards. Ok, that really didn't sound as convincing as it could have, I'll try and find the origional post.

esdf reason - when you lose your finger positions, just like typing, going back to a home key (ie a key with a little pointy bit on it) makes it more natural to find.

my CS setup and all FPS's I used Inverted, it just feels more natural.

My quake setup, my right mouse is forward, side buttons are zoom and secondary.

wasd + space

for CS I use wasd, c for crouch, space for jump.
Right mouse is walk, side is secondary and zoom, same as quakey :/
got quick buys on ,.[]
and a load of other buy stuff edited into my command menu.

First off... normal. Inverted is for only those who are lame or are truly god-like... actually... thinking about it... it's for the lame.

When I used to use arrow keys crouch jumping was a laugh with this config:

pg up:jump
pg dwn: crouch

Heh, when drunk or otherwise buggered you find your index finger spasming and eventually just dying.

Use asdw keys now. More keys to use for weapons in Q3.

Oh, and mouse 2 is always, ALWAYS, special function in HL, jump in Quake games :)

Mouse 3 is ALWAYS, ALWAYS reload in CS :)

And pedals make the car move forward too. Just can't find any cars in CS :(

Come to think about it having inverted mouse would be an advantage (sort of) as you aim high up the body...move the mouse forward whilst firing the bullets, you strafe the chest....but uninverted moving the mouse up (which is easier needng less effort) and firing you might get 1 hit and will need to re aim
It's all milliseconds anyway :)
Oh and it must be easier to counteract recoil "he says without actually ever tried"

What are you talking about? I found talking to God as I sprayed madly around was the key to counteracting recoil.
