Mouse problems in CS

I don't really go for CS anymore, although the past couple of nights i've been trying to play a game or 2 with a few of the admins in #bwadmins. It's not been much fun tho.

I've tried a few things but the problem remains, when in CS my mouse seems to lock at random when moving it around. At its extreme the mouse just stops working for a second or two and then picks up again and works okay, in general it makes playing nigh on impossible and the only kills i can get are really close range spam ones. Overall the mouse feels very laggy, not as responsive as say in Q3. Speaking of Q3, i can go into that and i have no problems with the mouse, it moves smoothly.

I'm using a MS Intellimouse PS2 (normal ball mouse) and Windoze XP. I could have had this problem since i got XP (early December) as i've not really bothered with CS at all until the past few nights, and although i've read about XP problems on some CS pages their fixes do not seem to work.

Anyone else had a similar problem and know of a cure?

I too have been suffering that, so far I have cleaned and turned my mousemat around, cleaned the mouse and its slidey feet and finally last night I downloaded the latest mouse drivers from Microsoft, it may be wishfull thinking but I think its done the trick.

My mouse felt very weird when I installed XP with CS, only two things I did to it was to turn of all the acceleration and whatnot in the mouse control panel properties and add -noforcemparms -noforcemaccel to the command line. I did read somewhere that if you go to the Sound tab in dxdiag and disable sound acceleration that works for some people though.

Hope that helps (ex) boss

I had the very same problem with CS and XP, right how did i sort it......ah yes i think i put my framerate up in cs console(that made the most difference)i turned all the mouse sensitivities up to full and maybe(altho not sure)i did cmupdaterate 40, i think thats all, stick with it and keep messing cuz CS runs great in XP now:D

Hmm ive had this problem with the intelli mouse that came with my windaz ME computer. I just switched to a bog-standard one; fraggin is a lot easier too.

On my old comp, however, it wasnt terribly fast, and i too suffered mouse problems because of the graphics mode i was running in. It was un-responsive and jerky - hence the reason for a new computer :p
