i donno about the mouse stopping and you needing to reboot, but my cursor used to move about on its own, jittering about, until i got a matt mouse matt which is all one colour.. stopped the wierd movement completely

i assumed it was because the previous mat i used was glossy and had different colours on it which must ave confused the light sensor :/
