I beg to differ - its all down to personal preference.
I love going out on my bike, even if I've nowhere to go I just go out for a ride, pick a direction and see where I end up. I could never get along with driving a car, I've had several car lessons and used to go driving with my parents, but never really felt comfortable. I've no doubt that I could get into it, but I just enjoy riding so much, I've never once considered doing my test. The idea of driving a car isnt something I like at all.
People say 'oh but if it rains you get wet' etc etc, but in all honesty, if you put proper waterproofs on before you go outside, and then take them off after you're back inside at the other end, you'll be dryer than people who've had to walk out to thier car in the rain.
I'll be going for my DAS soon, then I'll be looking at getting one of these hopefully! (CBR600! got a CBR125 atm)
I find chavs tend to be scared of bikers. Even while alone, when I've been all kitted up chavs have kept at a distance from me, never been bothered by them at all, its great
Did our DAS's today and I passed (yay!!) but Lee didn't (boo). He'll have another crack at it in a couple of weeks and I'm sure he'll pass - tbh was touch and go whether he should have failed for it anyway - difference of opinion.
Might go and take some test rides this weekend, get a feel for some bikes, in particular the SV650, Fazer ER-6 and Z750. We've both got really into biking, and since March we've put well over 1000 miles on the little 125.
Unfortunately, I'm only really going to be able to ride for the next 3 or 4 months or so, as I have impending....business. But hopefully I can have a cracking time and really make the most of it.
Cheers to those of you that gave good advice and lots of support, and I would seriously recommend biking to anyone thats interested in it.
Quick question btw...anyone know what you need to take a bike for a test ride? My licence has been sent away so all I have is the test pass certificate. Is this enough?
Had many bikes for years, got a ZX12 at the moment..and I'll tell you now YOU WILL LOSE YOUR LICENCE!!!
This bike does 100mph in first, so now it sits in the garage gathering dust and I ride everywhere on a 50cc Monkeybike
The ZX is just too fast for British roads and the Monkey goes anywhere including the back of my car, take it on holiday with me
Well you're asking to lose your licence with a ZX12 really aren't you
At the end of the day though, its you that controls the throttle, not the bike. If you wanna ride like a looney, thats fine, but I'll keep it under 100mph if its all the same
