Well I have crawled my way to level 36 now and to put it bluntly I just cba :(

I so badly want to like AoC and I can see that somewhere under all the bugs there is a great game just begging to be let out. I tried the crafting and found it just plain doesn't work yet and I can't really find anywhere to quest, I have done the wildlands and I have done conals (sp?) valley. Had a look in the graveyard (or whatever its called) and it was ever so slightly to high for me.

So any ideas what to do? :) how can I extract some fun from the game? Where can I go to get a few levels?

Did u try the Ancient Pyramid (or is that the GY ur talking about) ? Eventho the place is quite buggy and the final quests in there you can't do, I found it a nice place

Im 36 atm aswell - I did that Ancient Pyramid instance on 36, got almost a level. Instance was very doable (level 36-38 mobs) on my Conquerer

I personally would recommend against this, the pyramid is the buggiest place I've found to date and could tip you over the edge :p

The other area is Khemish plains, but if you get into a group the most awesome dungeon is Sanctum of Burning Souls 37-39 iirc. 4+ people is a must tho, 6 handy.

Personally, I'm having difficulty with quests at 50, all the ones I currently have are too high level for me so I've slowed down a lot. A Sunday morning grind should get me back on track though...

The best answer I can give you mate is to gang up with people and go splat stuff, after all that's what MMOs are about.

You are not the only one feeling like this i feel once my free month is up i will give the game a 5 month break or so because it is far from in a release state in my opinion.

It gets worse the further you get as well from what i have seen just a constant grind past 40+ barely any quests etc.

I feel this game could become another Vanguard in it's current state you only have to look on the offical forums to see there are more negative threads then positive.

I feel the game has potential though and could become something very fun and cool but right now that is all it has.

The most fun i have had so far is roll on a pvp server it gives a risk feeling and you are constantly looking over your shoulder so it gives an excitment feeling and keeps you on your toes.

It does seem the game was released without questing level 30+ being properly tested which is odd for a game where levelling can be very fast.

That being said, I have heard some players have managed to quest to 80 without much inbetween grinding, but no idea how or where yet.

Your best bet might be to talk to the other players in-game in the level 35-40 bracket and see what they are doing or group up with players in that range who are having the same problems and look around together maybe at slightly tougher quests in higher areas. Not a great solution, but about all I can think of.

(The official forums are full of stupid whiners. Using them to support any argument is just wrong, then you can also admit straight away that you're a stupid whiner too. Sorry, but that's how I see it.)

I did Conall's Valley and Wild Lands of Zealata, all quests, couldn't finish one and met only one boss in the Sanctum that didn't fight back, yielded me level 40. I've heard that the Noble District is bugged, that's why I didn't go to there yet.

Now I could chill and do Khopshef quests for easy exp, try the Noble District or go to the Field of the Dead. Don't know yet.

I love that you can group with players way below you and take them on a ride with teacher mode :).

People don't whine for nothing most of the posts are valid on there and when you think about make sense.

If the game was perfect then there wouldn't be nearly as much whine threads as there are on the conan forums.

I think everyone except the oblivious can agree the game needed another 3 months development before release.

That aside if Funcom do well with patches it will turn out to be a great game BUT this game is a stopgap until WAR for most people that itself doesn't say much about what people think of the game.

Also once you hit 80 it seems there is ZERO content so it's either do PVP for no reward = people will get tired of it very quickly or you roll a new toon and do it all over again.

There is always some xp spots, you just need to do some exploring. But myself, i prefer grinding mobs xD This game should be named Everquest 3 imo.. there are sooooo many quests. When im bored, i tend to run around and find stuff to mine, and try to advance in a tradeskill (whic is seriously bugged)

Aada, people whine for nothing, you proved it yourself in your last post.

There are 5 level 80 dungeons and 6 level 70+ dungeons in AoC.

Not sure why the game needed another 3 months before release, then you would have just whined about something else.

As for AoC being a stop gap for Warhammer, speak for yourself.

The reward in PvP comes from victory and fun for now, there is simply not enough level 80'ies to provide end game PvP anyway.

Im 43 and not had to grind yet and still not finished field of the dead or even been to nobles district. As to end game pvp having no reward so pointless, didnt daoc endgame pvp have no rewards for a long long time?

hit 48 with barely any grinding, almost all quests. tortage -> khopshef/wildlands -> 1 or 2 sanctum runs -> noble district -> fields of the dead. no problem.

I'm not enjoying it less exactly but a lot of the things i was looking forward to (crafting, PvP, guild cities, border kingdoms) either seem badly implemented or not implmented at all. From that perspective I may take a break for a few months after my free month and check back.

i think its brilliant atm tho my few concerns are quests 50+ and group exp isn't worth it, especially in instances

It does seem the game was rushed out to cash in before the Warcraft expansion and Warhammer hit.

If one thing I found with Anarchy-Online was that funcom will fix most of the problems with time.

Ah well at least you guys can play it, my current computer nearly has a fit when I play, lets hope by the time I get my new PC the game has been patched up a bit.

I hope to have it at the start of July so about a month, the wait is going to drive me nuts, lucky I've got Metal Gear solid 4 to help kill the time, but that will only last so long.

I can't wait to chop heads in the name of crom, by the way, I hope you are playing on a PvP server :p

I got as far as trying to collect materials. 2 hours for about 5 of each was enough.

Ouch!

A few things that I've done to maximise the collectable stuff:

Purple lotus swamps seem to have less ppl in.
Early in the day > prime time (obviously difficult to manage for most inc me).
Know where all the locations of the ones you want are (I printed out the area map and have marked the location and type on it every time I've found one - I'm sure someones put one on the net with all locations by now, if not bug me for my semi-complete version).
Run through the whole map, then change instance (if available) and repeat.

I did this on Friday for a bit and came away with 100 granite, 60 Ash + lots of other bits. Would have had 100 cotton too if it hadn't been bugged :p

I agree with whoever said that grping doesnt really pay off. In terms of xp/hour i can get more solo than i can grpd with anyone really on my conq (chain pulling packs of 3-4 mobs +3/4 lvls over me as long as the camps last), I wish theyd change that though because grping is a lot more fun.

Regarding grinding, so far Ive found at least a few quests to do every level that break up the monotony of grinding, which is pretty much how I treat them, because some of them do have some interesting little plots :D (wheres the next step of the Raven quests dammit :( )

The best thing to do is try and change zone as much as you can so you pick up as many quests as you can if thats your thing. If not, well theres a ton of good camps to grind at. If only Funcom would up the general rate of repops~ some camps just feel empty at times, even when moving between them.

ae exping seems the fastest thing grindwise at the moment, with our guild using a 63 pom who is apprenticing the rest of the group up (me 56 demo, a 53 conq and 2 30-40s) we're chain pulling >10 mobs in atzel's approach. taking 1 lvl per hour and it's good money. only problem is the apprentice bug where each time someone levels their damage goes from normal to doing like 10dmg, only fix is suicide or client reset. sucks!
