At work we have some proper shite security cameras that capture in .mjp format. So far I've had no success in opening the bastards. I've looked on google and so far learnt that they are motion jpegs but can't for the life of me find a program to open them in. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about them? I was thinking maybe an add-on for photoshop would be amazing :D

I still have a Fast AV Master, a video capture card that captured in mjpeg format. All you need is the codec. Do a search for G-Spot, which is a free piece of software that analyses what codecs a file needs.

Thats presuming that the file is an .avi, which yours might well be regardless of the extension.

cheers peeps, I think the first thing I'm going to do is change the extension to mpg. My mate said he did that and it worked :p

After that doesn't work I'll do the above.

Doh Boy - Did you ever sort this out ? I have a piece of software which sort
of plays .mjp files but I really want to conver them to .avi or anything common.
