Most successful films ever

1. Titanic
2. Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
3. Star Wars: Episode I
4. Jurassic Park
5. Independence Day

Just goes to prove that popularity does not mean a film is any good.

There's not one of those films I'd willingly see again. Even for free.

It's in the top 10, but it's currently £175m behind HP (which has £634m or thereabouts).

Most of the human race already knew that, but it's nice to see you're catching up though Sar :p

Have you ever played D&D ? They explain the difference between intelligence & wisdom as : Intelligence tells you it's raining, wisdom tells you to get inside out of the rain...

In a nut-shell - people are very sheep-like in their ways... they follow hypes (take MOH for example - crap game, well hyped, probably will sell well)

Flaw in your otherwise INGENIOUS plan there einstein: MOH:AA fucking rocks.

:)

And your answer bears little relevance to my question btw ;)

Dungeons & Dragons.

An RPG experience system thought up by Gary Cygax in the 70's iirc.

different strokes for different folks Sar... As you believe that MOH rox and will keep at it (until you see the light :p), I'm sure there are peeps out there that would argue that Star Wars Ep 1 was indeed the best film ever...

Does that list take into account stuff like inflation?

No idea Kenny, although I'd imagine it would in order to keep the list properly ordered.

And I seriously doubt anyone on this earth thought Ep1 was the greatest film ever made.

All you have to do to completely cunt their arguments (whatever they are) is mention Jar Jar.

Nuff said.

:p

I think that list is more a testament to the marketing engine rather than the strength of the films themselves. How many of those films up there can you not remember there being hype about for months before hand? I remember seeing stuff about ID4 at least 8 or 9 months before it came out. All these teaser trailers they have nowadays.

Great films they are not...well hyped they are.

WPKenny is saying more or less the same thing as me, he just has more time to word it better :p

Also Sar, as you can't believe that some peeps love Star Wars Ep 1, I can't believe some peeps are raving over MOH... like I said a while ago - different strokes for different folks m8... The only reason those films are ranked so high is because of their hype & marketing... the same goes for MOH...

It's all to do with grossing, so I heard on the news. Since Titanic was the most expensive of all of those to make, it's done pretty well.

And I liked Jurassic Park :)

Shawshank Redemption was well made but was rather dull in most places, imho.

Goes to prove that the Doctors at the hospital were way too quick in signing your release papers.

I suppose you prefer MOILEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEENE rather than Suzanne (Hearsay)?
