I just watched a programme called "The Deadliest Catch" all about Alaskan Crab Fishermen - that is one seriously dangerous job. Working continuously without sleep, physically and mentally exhausting, dangerous conditions on deck, apalling weather, really bad storms, rogue waves.

Not sure about truck driver to be honest. Some others for your consideration:

-Armed services
-Oil rig worker (especially those who do the underwater welding)
-Aircraft pilots
-Construction industry (falls from heights, heavy & dangerous machinery etc)
-Electrical pilon engineers
-Refuse collectors
-Mountain rescue
-Sewer worker
-Daredevil / stunt performer
-War correspondent / news reporter
-Backpacking in Columbia..? OK its not a job, but still bloody dangerous.

Usually though, like with truck driver, it's not dangerous if you know what you're doing and use atleast half a brain in doing so.

Sure, being that much in traffic increases the possibility of an accident, but, accidents can be avoided too and it's not so easy to calculate the dangerous part by statistics.

My dads a truck driver, and it's no easy job. Although 99% of truck drivers are fat fucks, its still a nasty job. Motorways are boring, but spending more time on them than off them is boring. Only takes a second for you to close your eyes and your screwed!

Also - a removal man! some of those fridges are heavy.

Oh i'm not saying it's an easy job, i rode a night trucking with my dad(gods screw his soul...when he dies) way back when and it really put me off the business. Was planning on being a trucker, and well, "try it and you'll know".

Long nights, sleep when can, tiny amounts, stress, boss pushing etc etc. No thank you. You have to be a bit mental(in a good way) to do that job, so nothing but respect to your dad.

been watching that for a while now and i can't say i envy them. well, they DO make some serious cash on a god run but i don't know if its worth it.

Deadliest Catch is an amazing programme... esp that last one jeez, the guys didnt even drop any pots before one of the boats sunk. scary arsed shit that.

makes you wonder about trawler crews too.. coz thats dangerous too.. and ofc everyone wants stuff cheaper these days, without thinking about the risk those fellas go to in order to get some cod or crab.

i remember watching a programme about miners in teh olden days and tbh that was a seriously nasty job, poor sods had to lay on their sides and chip away at the coal seam for hours just to get a small amount.

steel workers also was another horrible occupation, if the poor bugger fell in to the vat they didnt dare try to fish him out then just shoved him under because of the melting it was the most humaine (humane?) thing to do

its true though most of the shitty dangerous nasty jobs are all minimum wage or thereabouts. but a nice safe job behind a desk can earn you a fortune.
