It made me laugh, on TV yesterday some twat was arguing about ageism/discrimination against the young.
Well beg-me-fucking-pardon sir, but how many groups of gaggling, cider swigging pensioners do you see congregating outside the local Co-Op threatening passer by's and flicking their joints at people.

Yeah it's a nasty situation to have to overcome, there's ways around it. They don't have to be used all the time, they can be installed very easily on timers - not too dissimilar to those movement sensors you get inside your house for the alarm - after a few minutes it should sound for another few minutes.
No harm done then really. There will always be some collateral, it can't be stopped. But someone needs to sort out the little shits who seem to have nothing better to do.

Friend of mine knocked up a similar device a few years ago, but worked on the opposite end of the spectrum and was very undiscriminate - i.e. worked on everyone - movement sensor and this device in a computer shops doorway, turned on at night. Emitted a very slow (inaudiable to everyone) and low noise - if you stood there for little longer than a minute, you suddenly had a splitting headache and no fucking idea where it came from. Had to get taken down in the end because the chavs started targeting it specially and showing how hard eachother was by standing in the doorway for measured periods of time and competing :D

It's annoying that they feel they need to install this kinda stuff.

Im no thug, but sure i hang around on the street sometimes waiting for people.

I don't want to go sit in the middle of a field cos there are loads of high pitched noises in my ears.

If a kid really wants to cause trouble, a noise won't affect him.

I think its shown from the replys on this thread that most people here agree that things need to be done to encourage little wankers to stop hanging about around the Spar annoying people and scaring folk.

I hope this is just the first. We need more measures like this, and there will be people who say its "interering with thier human rights", but fuck them, we need to get the pendulum swinging back towards the side of sanity.

I've heard that playing classical music works similarly, apparently it's not hip and the teens generally hate it. No problems with people using this (as long as it's only turned on when there's problems and only for up to 20 mins), but I'd prefer classical music tbh.

Kids hanging round by the shops never used to scare people?

its only cos they hang around smoking with their hoods up and look intimidating!

i mean people walk around me when im walking to the train station, just cos i have my hood up cos its cold!

totally weird.

New anti chav device? Old chavs! They could let go of there bowels whenever chavs enter the vicinity, have old "durin the war.." speeches, tell em how there were harder chavs back in there day, etc, etc?

I can hear these devices and could hear all the tones on the rongtone page, and I'm 28. I have no issue with installing these things, I think its a bloody good idea. I DO get very intimidated by the idiots who walk around Richmond on a friday and saturday night, and I'm sure that most of the time they mean no harm, but drunken, lairy groups of young people who think its funny to scream at passers by ARE scary. I won't stand up for myself or answer back, I'm too scared that one of them will be carrying a flick knife.
I got mugged twice in 6 months by the same group of kids when I lived off the Old Kent Rd. All aged 14 or under. Police knew exactly who they were but were powerless to do anything about it. I had to move in the end cos I was scared to come out of my house.

That's fine, you and a friend waiting and being good won't trigger the device to be turned on but if you and a friend or friends started to shout, jeer, flick stuff or intimidate people than frankly you are a chav wanker who needs to fuckoff and leave the people that work or worked their arses off in peace.

That's the point, it is only used when the wankers, whose parents decided that parenting was not for them when their kids got to 11, decide to cause a problem.

When I worked in an off-license (I'm now a wine merchant - that's like a posh version of the same thing without pikeys; just people with loads of money who consider mere bills beneath them), the worst problems I had were with mothers trying to buy their scrote kids booze just so they could have a quiet Friday night in with the benefit boy-friend while little Johnny was on a street corner with his mates bottling people.

The abuse from these women when you explain that if they ask their 14yo kid which vodka brand they want I have to see the kid's ID is unreal. Short of being on the recieving end of an armed robbery, I've never been so pleased to see the police arrive.

The problem is the parents - or should I more accurately say: parent. Their children are obstacles to them and when treated as such it's no wonder these twats take it out on someone/thing.

Argh, inane rant.

Shit.

I'm a jolly person really :)

That's exactly the problem we're facing, it's not just a matter of the children, the parents have to be responsible, their friends, their friends parents, the government oddly enough.

In my opinion it boils down to discipline, or lack of - not being allowed to smack your own child for fear of being locked up for child abuse - what a crock of shit.
I could rattle on about forced army signups and the likes to try and improve matters like this but what can you do. The kids are getting away with far too much and the average child these days is a fuckwit. There's still plenty of gooduns, but the others - at some point, one or more of those exact annoying little shits will probably be in control of your money, driving your bus or taking your savings behind the desk at the bank counter. Or even worse, serving you that burger in Macdonalds.

I wouldn't trust them.

They really should bring back national service and then enforced labour for lazy parents.

I don't think national service so much.

Maybe something other than these "community support officers"

total waste of time, get some proper police on the street, who don't have to fill out hours of paperwork to nick ya, they are there to protect the public, not to be in an office all day.

Community support officers and police paperwork are partially a result (self perpetuating) of the compensation and non-accountability culture we now exist in. Everything is someone else's fault, and while it remains; paperwork and crap will need to be filled in by people who feel neutered by beurocratic (sp?) pissants.

Until society adopts a "shit happens but that's life" attitude, I doubt much will change.

It's a shame the brown noise isn't real, that'd sort the buggers out faster than any mosquito nonsense.

In all seriousness though, if shopkeepers are just leaving these things switched on, then that's not right. Believe it or not, for every cider-swilling chavscum outside a corner shop there are a 100 under-25s going about their normal business and they have a right not to be aurally assaulted.

the orignal ones could be left on all day, coppers around 18 months ago sent letters to owners saying they should only flick em on when they should.

the one round back switches off after 10 mins. we have 2 young families living near by the adults are in the early 20s, one family lives across the road the other behind use with a small alley between us. both call us up and ask us switch em on. they can hear it it annoys them but also now they don't have swearing smack heads loitering around their gardens where their kids play.

the laws of our country don't favor the poor shopkeeper much if these kids gets an adult to buy booze or cigs and say a copper or some twit from the office of fair trading spots it, the shop keeper is landed with a fine

Hah! Most of these small shops happily sell booze n fags to the underage - if it werent for the police and trading standards we would be in an even worse situation!

Its a bit rich these shops complaining about chavs while happily supplying em with booze/fags!

That's spot on, I had a good argument with a policeman once about that, luckily I am on good terms with the chap who oversaw our area at the time.

Couple of polish guys, mid twenties, bought some vodka - I'm afraid theres not going to be any alarm bells ringing there, that's what they buy - vodka. Unfortunately outside they sold it to some kiddys. Moving forward 15 minutes and I'm being accused of selling alcohol to minors...

Luckily the same fellows came in for some booze of their own later on and I happily barred them indefinately :)
