lo

I have a 30gig drive that i installed XP pro on,I partition it using Disk Management in XP, 20gigs for XPpro and two 5gig partitions.

Now installed W2K on one of the 5 gig partition and all works fine, until I reboot into XP, XP wouldn't work so I did a repair of XP and they are both now fine

Right, I want to put 98se on the other 5gig partition so I formatted it in Fat32 then stuck the disk in and rebooted
it, it asked me the usual but then said, setup has found non compatable files do you want to delete them or leave them ??? at this point i cancelled the installation.

What do I need to do to put 98se on this last partition, without upsetting any of the other ones ?
If i told it to leave the files alone (not delete them) would it then give me the choice of which partition to install 98se on, or would it just format the whole lot ?????????????????????

Not sure, which is why i cancelled and are now asking for your help

Thanks alot if you can help
Jason

Is the partition fat32 or NTFS?
Anyway I think you have to install win98 before any nt platform due to 98 not having any built in boot selection screen.

i dont think booting will be a problem as you can add a ms os to the xp boot menu manually but when you install win98 you should make sure to install it to the right partition.

if you have 3 ms os on 3 different partitions it should work imo.

I've had a win98/win2k dual install before, was a pain in the arse to get working unless win98 was put on first, then win2k as 2k has support for it.

Unless you want all three, in which case I would assume many a problem as XP has the same support.

If you can, and have a few spare hours, trying installing 98, then 2000 then xp :p

on another note

i've had HUGE problems with plug and play on dual boot machines

XP manages your hardware slightly differently than 2000, and 2000 is truely different in that aspect to win98.

Unfortunately, i found no cheap/quick remedy for this. But it may be something to look into...
