Whats with this 'Sony aer evil' bollocks all of a sudden?

I've got loads of Sony stuff, its all great. Trinitron was the best. Virtually everything you see on telly has been shot and edited on Sony equipment.

I didnt say they were evil.

I think they are over rated but not evil...

I have only ever bought 1 sony product and that has been my freeview box.
I can't say I am overly impressd with it. I think for the same money I could have bought something better...

It's just cos Sony stuff is generally that sound that when something Sony breaks it's in the news. The same happened when BMW had to recall the Mini and that didn't really affect BMW one bit.

All the Sony stuff I've had has been fine. I am on my 4th PS2, but that doesn't really fiss me to be honest. Two were upgrades (Black - Silver then Silver - Slimline....the black one was about to break so I traded it in.....gotta love how gullible Game are.......:D) and the other was an initial release one which Sony fixed next day for me. Oh yeah and the connector on the bottom of my SonyEricsson phone only works intermittently. Does that count?

Yes it does count, this pisses me off on my w810. It's only a few months old and you have to put the charger in and kinda lean it backwards for it to charge. And forget earphones, slightest move of the phone in my pocket and it cuts out.

I was initially annoyed with the nwa3000 walkman as well but then they fixed the software (fkin eventually ) and it seems ok since then. To be fair, I didn't have any qualms with the player itself except it's a bit sluggish navigating between albums and you can't sort the tracks by filename when they're on the player so occasionally albums get transferred all shuffled up and there's nothing you can do on the player to fix it.

Other than that, it's all good with Sony.

same problem for me with my mobile, its a bugger to charge, have to keep checking its still charging and re-adjust the wire etc. bought 2 PS2s, the first one stopped working so went out and bought the new slimline one, except for shit dvd playback (most are glitchy and the sound is usually messed up or out of sync) i have not had a problem with it. not a sony hater but not going to be getting a PS3 because for slightly more than the cost of a PS3 i can upgrade my PC to DX10 loveliness.

My Sony mobile was the only bit of poor quality kit I've had from them. It was a K700i and the build quality was pretty shonky. The new ones seem to be a bit more up to scratch but I've switched back to Nokia now.

My camera (T7), my PSP, my DVD player, portable TV etc are all excellent. However, when Sony stuff does go wrong, their customer service is fucking awful. I had a nightmare getting a Vaio fixed and my ex recently had problems with a camera that took a letter to the UK MD to get resolved. This is of course a worry as Sony get more and more into the service side with the PS3 and online; they definitely have a weakness there, and its an area where MS are much stronger IMHO.

Heh, spoke to me mum tonight, and they've just forked out another £700 on a new (37" HD/LCD thingy) telly after thier old £1000 Sony (32" Widescreen) packed in after only 18 months.

I have a cheapy (32" Widescreen) Goodmans telly and it's been fine for the last five years.

So yeah, I'd have to agree, Sony aer teh C0ck.

why did they buy new one? surely the repair fee would be less than £700?

Probably would have been. The tv fixer man they went to got a new part from Sony, fitted it, tested it and it broke again.

So the parents went 'f*** it, we'll just get a bigger better telly'. So they did. Luckily, tv fixer man didn't charge them a penny for the failed repair, so I guess he'll fix it on his own time and flog it on regardless.

Anyway, the old man is now a happy old man, and mum is happy he ain't whinging that he's missing his all important football!
