All,

Got myself a Netgear WG311v3 Wireless PCI adaptor but (again) I can't get it to work in my HTPC box (mobo is an Abit 440BX [BX6]). As usual, I have the PC sitting in a stripped out state of only a GFX card (GF2 MX, AGP) and the netgear card - but no joy.

The PC boots fine, into XP fine, but when you install the drivers etc it just says "Code 10 - this device could not be started". I've tried the card in my PC (Abit AN7, more modern board) and it works absolutely fine, so the card looks ok.

I've tried:

Every PCI slot
Turning off IRQ steering
Tweaking BIOS settings for PCI IRQs and PNP settings
More up-to-date drivers
Non-Netgear drivers, drivers by the chipset manufacturer

Nothing is working, it keeps coming back "Code 10"

Any ideas?

The WG311v3 requires a PCI v2.2 slot, the older 440BX mobos probably only have PCI v2.1 or 2.0.

Yeah, s'what I thought it would be - good as the 440BX was in it's time, it's just getting old now.

My mate has a spare socket A board (i had an athlon 1400 kicking about) that he wasn't using, so he gave me that and i've now got it all fully functioning.

Many thanks Xane.
