More Enchanter Questions

Hi

When it comes to armour, gloves, helm etc am I limited to wollen stuff? - and where can I find some decent stuff to wear like jewellery etc, is it best to buy it or is there a certain creature that drops it regularly (i'm lvl 14 btw).

I have a list of spells that I can use from www.classesofcamelot.com - down the side it says level 1-50 and all the different spells I can use. Now I thought the level was to do with how much I put into each magic school ie. mana, light but is it to do with what level the character is? Do I get all the enchanter spells anyway but it depends on how much I have spec'ed the skill as to how usefull it is?

The reason I'm asking that is because I've had the spell Aura of Redirection for ages but I've only just got my Mana up to 8.

Thanks

There are 3 basic lines and 3 spec lines...

The three basic lines get more spells as you gain levels, but to get them stronger (do averagely more damage) you need to spec in them, if you spec in a basic line, example: mana line, then you also spec in the spec line of empowerment, which gives the pb-aoe spells and movement speed enhancements.

So, as you gain levels you'll automatically find new spells in the basic lines, but you need to visit your trainer and train to get new spells in spec lines. :)

Hope that made some sense :)

ok that does make sense now :)

ANother question - what pet are u using? I use the 'healing' pet but it doesn't seem to heal me ?!? I can't find much use for the caster as he only gets 2 nuke's off before he's involved in melee and then his health falls faster than the tank.

Any suggestions?

the healer pet does heal, but it's a bit bugged and doesnt allways happen until your on about 2 health :p and as a caster you usually die in the hit which takes you from 35% health to 0 straight away :p.

basically use the ally as a tank, just have him attack, get aggro then heal him and nuke the target etc.... practice at this and you'll find your own balance of how much power to use on nukes and how much damage to let the pet do etc.... after a while you'll work out the most efficient method.

if you have to pull mobs out of an aggro camp then rather than sending in the ally and having it ganked by fifteen mobs at once, use the companion, this will stand from afar and nuke one, bringing that one only (most of the time :)) so you can then let it get aggro and treat it the same way.

remember, not all pets are eaqual, but do NOT fall into the trap of thinking that the latest one is best, they fill differnet roles that's all, you get the following:

1 friend
2 companion
3 ally
4 compatriot
5 zealot

now 1 is a basic tank, not good but it's all you have until lvl 12/13 when you get the ally and he can take over as a tank, use the friend as a tank and a tank only.

2 is a nuker, use him to pull from aggro spawns then tank while you nuke the mob,

3 is a healer, set him on passive in a group and he'll cast a heal over time on everyone, or if soloing use him as a tank since he seems to do it better than the friend.

4 is a very good tank, use him instead of the ally for this task once you get him,

5 is the excellent nuker, or would be if he worked, but he doesnt, so for nuking purposes use the companion instead,

basically dont just use the compatriot for everything once you get it just because it's more recent and therefore "better", because it's not, they're all just as good at the high lvl's as they are a low lvl's, so use them for whichever situation warrants it :). you need a nuker? use a nuker, healer? use a healer, tank? use a tank pet, and so on.

they're handy little things, in groups you can use them as pullers, damage adds (ie have them attack and add their damage to the meelee), emergency tanks if healers get aggro, healers to add to the druids power, additional nukers for a stronger damage add etc... very cool.

oh, and ignore morons who complain that the pet's stealing the groups xp, it's not, it only takes some of YOUR xp according to the damage it does, and at that it takes a LOT less than an additional member would, it does NOTHING to anyoen elses xp in the group, sadly many people dont know this. remember, if it does no damage, it takes non of your xp, so stick it on passive even if its' not needed, you never know when they can be VERY handy in a emergency.

one more tip for using the companion, tell it to "stay" before telling it to attack, just move it to max range and hit the "stay" button, the difference is huge, rather than moving a little after each nuke it sticks itself EXACTLY in that position and chain casts, it can do a LOT of damage this way and have aggro firmly in it's position even before the mob get's into meelee with it, very usefull.

I've hit 15 and I'm having a problem levelling. If I go for yellow orange I end up using from half to 3/4 of my power (most from healing my pet ), which means loads of downtime.

What attribute gives u more power?

Weetabix or shredred wheat is a good food substance to feed the pet. Also a drink of vimto/ribeena is a good substitute.

dont go for high con orange mobs that kill your mana, just go for yellows...they fall easy and the downtime is greatly reduced.

Try to get to lvl 20 asap, goto the Battlegrounds and get MCL (Realm ablilty) this helps loads!

Im only a noobie enchanter, but its great fun...keep at it :)

well it depends on spec, if your high light spec you could take orange mobs with VERY little downtime due to the fact that you burn very little power on nukes, the light spec enchanter nukes are VERY efficient by the time your at even lvl 15 if you have about 2/3 spec points into light,

if your high mana however, you should be using pbaoe, in which case you will get INSANE xp from soloing blue's and greens, the point being you can kill 7 or 8 at once for the same power usage as killing one blue/green, they drop fast to the pbaoe, so just let the pet aggro them, then run up and pbaoe, you may get another one off too before they aggro you, then quick cast pbaoe if any are left alive after the second one, after that one, on blues/greens, three pbaoe's should butcher them all, with that method you get downtime, but the xp you get from each set of kills more than makes up for it.

Just in case, I´ve tried several times, if the nuke pet´s NOT full hp, it tends to not nuke, so heal it to full hp and watch it nuke happily (and yes it´s bugged but this is a way to deal with it :))

The Bug (as i know it) is that if a nuking pet enters melle combat during a fight itll never nuke agen

sort of, the bug with the companion (first nuking pet) isn't that it'll stop nuking if it's been in meelee, its' if it get's a spell interupted, now this happens far less than you'd think, mostly if the mob has gotten close to it it wont start another nuke, so it doesnt get interupted often, but when it does merely because of bad timing etc... it'll from then on, act as a meelee pet :( and you have to release it and remake another before you can have a nuker pet once again.

the bug with the zealot is that, and also that rather than being able to stand and chain nuke, it'll nuke 2/3 times then run off to the mob and try to tank it :p, a bad thing that.

but the companion is usually ok because it doesnt get interupted often, but there have been times when i've used almost all my power summoning one, buffing etc... then have it interupted in the first bloody blue con mob i've killed on my way to the xp area :( then have to remake it etc.... only to have exactly the same thing happen once again, but usually it has the sense to not cast if the mob is close enough to stand a good chance of interupting that cast, so mostly it's ok, it can meelee and then nuke again fine after the fight because it wasnt half way through a cast when it first got hit.

Hmm about the mana usage, do you have an up-to-date staff with good concentration on it?

No I don't - My staff adds 10 to int and it now cons green. I've seen the standard staffs that the merchants sell, are these worth getting?

I don't actually have any good stuff, I'm not sure if I'm supposed to hunt a certain monster or if I'm looking to buy at the wrong place.

I'm now lvl 17

Any ideas?

Another thing that i have noticed with the caster pets, if you command it to stay and then tell it to attack while you are standing between it and the mob then on occasion it will forget to stay and act as a tank.

If it helps, there's a threat about enchies on vn-boards.
PPl discussing about whats the best way to specc to get to 50 fast, what to specc on what LVL, dmg-stats,... .
Im a light-specced enchie, but since this was my first char in hib ages ago, i had no idea about how good the mana-line was, and trained light.
Now im waiting for some time on the respecc to change to mana.
After reading a few posts there i was like, yea 2/3 2/3 is the way to go. Then a few posts further more like, full mana is gonna be it.
I know it's not exactly what you asked, but the info there is great,
and it's about the best thread i have ever seen. :)
Here's the link, hope it helps, it did for me... :)
