monitor stops receiving input/computer stops sending

Got a very bad problem after I reinstalled DAoC, this problem is DAoC specific and I never encountered it before, but it is a "stable" error, meaning it occurs between 5 to 15 minuts from logging in to it happens every time:

When sitting around, running, anything in DAoC, my screen suddenly turn black, then starts displaying a screen that it also displayes when the computer is turned off/when it is not receiving a signal, but I can hear my computer is still going at it and hear some sounds on my speakers from the game.

And tried the power saving mode, reinstalling and cleaning my drivers, starting to run out of ideas.

I have played DAoC with this card before (ATI's own X800XT all-in-wonder) unless I remember terribly wrong, and would prefer not having to replace it as it was still a very expensive card and I am a student, so cash is not what I'm loaded with

Sounds like just the job but re-installing his own GFX drivers is also a must if such problems exist and then reinstall DX what ever it is these days

DX usually causes the issues when it comes to games, allways get render issues when it decides to die.

If it's ONLY DAoC doing it (not other games) it wouldn't be his GFX card.

A friend told me some general guidance to how to avoid this sort of error, he didn't know the game but he knows alot about computers and how they work.

Apperently, the one thing I didn't think of was an option in DAoC, "Window Mode" instead of full screen, haven't happened since I changed it.

He also told me that you can fix it through BIOS, but I haven't found the right thing yet there, going to test fullscreen after I find it...

Why would that matter?

Because AGP based X800's often have voltage issues unless they are installed on a new motherboard. They require a higher operating port voltage than most older motherboards supply by default. This is often an issue with DAOC and can result in blackouts and artificing as described by the original poster.

Anywhere I can go to see if this is an issue with my motherboard???

Just check the AGP voltage in your bios. Should be around 1.6v, if its dramatically lower (<1.45), You certainly should crank it up (but note the setting to change should explicitly be called 'AGP voltage', not 'Vcore' or your 'GPU Vcore'. Increasing either of those could easily damage your PC). If you dont have the setting there is nothing you can do about it.

This may not be the issue in your case but it certainly has be known to happen before.
