What you do with your money is your business. What Goa does with the money you give it is Goa's business, and not yours. You pay money to Goa for playing DAoC (or do you? I thought you quit), not for running forums.

You're very worked up about this, aren't you? No, money I give GOA is still my business, in the other sense of the word. I don't think I claimed any "rights" to forums, but if GOA is paying for community forums, then their customers interests are surely involved? If not, then I salute deebs & co for putting up with so many babies (if fact I do either way). Whether or not I am paying subs the last 2 months has no bearing on anything, but in fact I still have 4 months on an account.

For those with short memories, Goa originally ran its own forums, and shut them when it realised how much shit and spam it would have to deal with.

I actually think they shut them cause GOA were doing very very poorly with customer service at the time - now is nothing. And it looked bad to have so much bitching about patches & etc on their own pages. That is my opinion only.

If they are paid by Goa, it's theirs and Goa's business, not yours or mine. And it doesn't mean you as a DAoC subscriber have any right to say what should or should not be modded here. You pay precisely squat to come and chatter here.

You are wrong. Paying customers are listened to by any normal company. Anyhow, I don't think the mods do a horrible job, but Tilda loves to lock anything that is even the slightest bit spammy. It's annoying. Where is nova's old photoshop illustration ^^ was so right on

A couple of clarifications.

1) Freddyshouse is a totally non-commercial setup. There is no money being received from GOA for hosting the DAOC forum, Deebs and TedTheDog do it out of the goodness of their hearts. This means no advertising pop-ups or silly banners... great isn't it?

2) The mods are all volunteers, doing the job as a way of putting something back into the community. When some of you are a bit older you might start to appreciate this mentality.

The mods do their job according to the guidelines given by Deebs and Ted. If you don't like a particular decision then feel free to PM the mod in question. I hang about here a fair amount and do lots of sticking/unsticking of raid posts because I used to play DAOC and know quite a few of the people around, and also a fair amount about the game itself. Other than this, the assigned DAOC mods will do the majority of the work here and their judgement is very good in my view.

As I said before... if you don't like it here, find another board. I am sure we'll cope

In that sense, yes, of course it's your "business". But I think you're assuming that the way things are being modded is against the interests of its customers. So far, all I've seen is it being against the *desires* of a *handful* of its customers.

Do you have any idea of bandwidth costs on a large-scale forum? A friend of mine runs one which has around 5000 members, and probably about the same amount of traffic as FH. It costs him hundreds of pounds per month for the bandwidth - thankfully, some of the members donate a couple of quid per month to keep it running, otherwise he'd be seriously skint.
