Hey guys,

Any of you know how to connect 2 pcs modem to modem (is it possible).

Both modems are Hayes Accura V.92

1st os = Win2000
2nd os = WinME

Any help appreciated (even monetary help :) )

Well I'm on win95 (dont laugh) and even on there in the dialup networking screen there is an option to setup a dialup server under connections -> dialup server.

I suggest u have a look at that.

I've had problems connecting null modem with games like C&C but if possible, you can like me and my mate connect easily with an ieee cable (assuming both PC's have the port) and set up a LAN and play games etc with minumum of effort :)

Ah.... the good old days of the null modem cable. Command and Conquer, GTA, Quake I...

Would it not just be easier to both dial up to the internet and do it that way, rather than one computer phoning the other directly.

Or do you actually mean a null modem (ie serial/paralell) cable Laz?

What im basically trying to do is create a small lan in the house. I thought you could do it simply by connecting them through the modems.

I have a network card and the crossover cable but, if i can help it, i would rather not install on the machine.

If its the last resort then fine - go with the Network card.

Always trying to do something new tho.

You'd rather not install the network card?!?

Even though its at least 10mbits a second?!?

Errr yeh, I have 2 pcs on 10mbit cable, they then share my cable modem connection.
Win XP is pants - BUT its very good when u want a home network - it does all the donkey work for you in seconds.

Why on earth would you not want to use network cards - thats the best solution hence their name....cough:confused:

Who needs modems? Laplink doesn't. It just connects the two via the parallel port. Wouldn't that be faster? Or just use the network cards, cheap and very fast.
