Long story short,

My 18month contract with 3 ended 9th August this month. On the 6th August, i just happend to phone up 3 for some random thing, and that when they told me my contract was coming to an end, and if i wished to continue (pick new tarif etc etc)

I declined, and used the word "cancel", and explained due to financial reasons i couldnt afford a contract for a couple of months, the guy on the other end says he understands and says fine, that's it.

I get a bill this morning, charging me £35 (double what i was paying for my monthly contract for 18months) which is dated 9th August - 9th September.

I got straight onto 3, and explained i had told them i wish to cancel, to which the guy on the other end of phone kept saying, i need to give 30days notice etc etc..

I can accept, that mistakes happen, and that they might not have noted i canceld, but....Can they legally take out any money after my 18month contract (which i signed, and they did) and not just take out, but take out double the amount? is this not, technically theft? or am i at a loss and should just pay it?

any help appriciated.

Sounds confusing if you do not provide them with 30 days notice they are allowed and will continue to charge your monthly tariff, All i can think is the guy has binned your contract but charged you an extra 30 days to allow for 30 days notice.

two scenarios

you dont keep the number and its disconnected. you have to give 30 days written notice.

you do keep the number. get the pac code, give it to the new provider and they disconnect the old people.

also keep in mind youre a month in arrears, so you always owe a month.

You have to write to them, confirming you want to cancel. Otherwise they are within their right to keep on taking the money (something in the small print)
