Mobile Broadband with your phone SIM ?

The Mrs now has a 1GB p/m allowance on her SIM and I can get 25MB for 30p on mine. Could I buy an unlocked USB dongle, stick a phone SIM in it and plug it into my Netbook for those unfortunate nights at the in-laws' ?

With the right settings it will work and let you on line yes.

Some Networks have a problem with this though and say you are not allowed to use your mobile bundle to take your computer on line. It will be worth checking to see if your deal excludes using the phone as a modem for your PC, as according to them using a dongle is the same thing.

I have always wondered how they prove it though?

Same warning check this is allowed under your contract a guy in work here got a letter from o2 saying if he carried on using his Nexus in this manner he would be billed for it.

It comes as standard on 2.2 roms (next month on galaxy?). Assuming you got a SIM Free rom as Operators my remove this for the reasons already mentioned.

Just like on the hero, you can root and install 2.2 on the galaxy. Pfft to your rooted Hero's.
