mobile bases?

How do you deploy the mobile forward base? Do you just jump out of it and hey presto it's deployed?

Yes. There is a couple of pre-requisites though. The MPB has to be on a flattish surface (though I managed to get out deployed at a 45 degree yaw angle). And it has to be outside radar range of any base turrets or sensors you have nearby.

Yes :) You need to be a little way away from your base tho and parked on level ground otherwise it'll just sit there acting dumb ;) You know it's deployed when the sunroof slides back and out pops a turret.

Yeah I just worked it out on a server... wicked having one of them parked near NME base.... I just had a fun 20 mins protecting it. Deploy, get assault-deployer gear from it, set up a few turrets around it, nip back to it and get sniper/repairer/mortar gear to launch assault & protect MPB as required, what a laff :)

I like this game :p

Yep MPB is good but has to be parked out of sight of the enemy base please and not 10 yards from their flag as one guy tried last night :).

Luap - MPB is only available on certain maps. Vehicle number and choice is different depending on map - and of course some maps dont have vehicles at all.

Be aware that any turrets you chuck out are turrets that should be defending your flag and not an MPB. Remember the max turret count! Saying that, it is fun yes. :) MPB`s are excellent for flag defence on Slapdash, if a newbie doesn`t take it off joyriding, and midfield on other maps as they just seem to attract the opposition who just "have to" blow it up before they can do anything else. Weirdos. :)

Yeah don't worry, I'm not a turret-hog ;) I only played about with them in the game mentioned previously since the enemy team was in a complete rout and we kinda had time & resources on our hands :)

Umm somebody did that to me once, deployed a dam mobile near are base. despite my cries for help, as the f2#@!cking missile turret kept on jumping up everytime i took off, when battling somebody, nobody would help:( solution;) i spawned up a transport, loaded them all on, and headed straight for it:) extreme lack of teamplay, but it worked:p

to take out a 'jericho' the key is to get an assault armor with with an ammunition pack, and a missile launcher, whatever they're called exactly. Then you don't have to be anywhere near them to blast them. Also, learn/remember to zoom, it really helps.

As long as it's not guarded Jericho's are easy to take out.. *walk* up to it, ELF gun to drain the shields, weapon of choice to finish it off ;)

I prefer the satchel charge, run up to the mpb, throw the charge, run away, make the guy defending it annoyed :)

You could always have someone paint the MPB then hit it with a missle launcher or mortar.

Even better, get someone to stay painting it, then have another person ELF it... once the shields are gone and the MPB is still painted, fire away! If the sheilds get a chance to recharge, ELF, rinse, repeat.

You ever tried getting someone to paint targets on a public server? It's nigh on impossible... occasionally someone will paint one for me for about 20 seconds.. and I've tried time and again painting them for other people to no avail. Hopefully it'll get better as the game matures though :)

I think its starting to get better escpecially in defense where I often see people assisting defenders with missile launchers by targeting bombers an havocs, which is great as the missile then locks on heaps quicker and more reliably.

One of the good things also in tribes 2 is the ability to be able to shout out what specfic object to target (i.e. "target the enemy turret")
