Signing up the following ppl:

From Bulle Reloaded
Docs (Icewiz)
Ringman (Pally)
Snortafix (Cleric)
Storanka (Pally)

From Strength and Honour
Fearles (Pally)

Probably coming as well:
Payron (Firewiz)

We will try and get the egg/sword farming done ahead of time to make things a bit smoother on raid night.

Id like to add that Ithilene (Necro) from Bulle reloaded will come as well.

All except Ithilene and Payron have Eggs/Swords, we will try and fix that tomorrow before the raid starts.

And for the love of god, how do you edit your post, I cannot find the button.
And believe me I HAVE been looking...

Question:

Full ML3 is the longest (or one of the longest..) ML raids. VoS says up to 6 hours for the raid, others say 3 if eggs and swords are farmed beforehand.
I'm guessing a lot won't have the eggs or swords, so that the raid will be more like 6 hours then 3.

If we start at 8, it will be at least 2 am before we finish, is everyone staying that late? Cause I have to go to work the day after, and I need my beautysleep

Or is there a chance the raid will get seperated into 2 bits on consecutive nights or so?

maybe make the next raid a sign up so those that actually sign up can go on the raid and not have to log feeling pissed off :(

OK, this is what happened.

I signed up here on FH, got a FG with me, came to aerus 20 mins early!
(Storanka was the leader of the grp)

Joined Xaratos BG as soon as it was created. (I spammed the /bg join)

I then joined Nathaniels BG when Xaratos got LD.

Then it is decided that we are to ROLL to join?!?
We of course did not make the roll.

What ever happened to first come first served?

We were ready WAY before the stated time and we were signed up and ready to go, most of the grp already have eggs and swords and the prequests done.

I seldom get angry but this pisses me off! :puke:

Its ok to be hard and harsh, but atleast KEEP IT FAIR!!!

/One dissapointed player

Rule #1 for leading open raids: If you can't handle it, don't create it.

Throwing people out of your BG because you cannot lead the numbers is just disgraceful. Many of those people have gone out of their way to be there on time.

Well...

Same as Docs here. Signed up for the event at the start. Arrived at Aerus 45 mins early. Was in the bg but told we had to roll.. what??

We even rolled a valid 93 but was then told too late!

Now, if your going to arrange events in the big boys league at least have the stature to be able to pull it off!

I can cope with raids going wrong through many reasons but when people have made extra effort to sign up (apparenty 'couldnt be bothered to write down the names' to quote Nathaniel) and turn up early, it's a bitcrap to ask them to roll for there position.

So.. looking foward to the next raid ofc. Why not try a Keltoi group? Maybe if enough signup :twak: we could get a fg.

Wold have been a smart idea to let people know in advance how things are being handled respectively that singing up here on FH and being early doesn´t mean a shit. Some people were planning their RL commitments around this event.

I'm sorry about those who didnt make the cut. I made the misstake of not doing grp signups and underestimating the number of ppl. Sorry! Maybe the best thing would have been to cancel and redo with grp signups, maybe not?
It's impossible to make everybody happy, especially with a pain in the as ML like ML3.

Pin, you if anyone should know, it's not about "can't handle it". ML3 is easy, it's the farming part that takes time, and this is one of the reasons why I can't bring 18-20 fgs. I think ppl would cry more if the egg/sword farming took xx hours.
Another reason would be the LD problem, with that many ppl in water, we would have an LD every minute - so this raid would turn out to be neverending. Im sure if you stop to think about it you can come up with a lot more...

I doubt strongly I will do ML3 again (time factor) - but if that happens it will be 100% grp signup - however doing it like this will be tough for those who dont have a guild or possibility to make a fullgrp and cant come cuz of this. Guess that's life - however you turn it, try, in the end some ppl will hate you for it.

ML3 is only a pain if the leader doesn't know what to do or expect, or how to cope and doesn't plan accordingly.
There is no reason a 'public' (i.e. generally announced here on FH) raid should be restricted to group sign-ups (maybe with the exception of ML2, which is the only BG raid which is not feasible with very large numbers).
Yes, it may not be possible to make everyone happy, but it's certainly possible to make the vast majority happy (and those who aren't be unhappy for reasons in their own hands) instead of alienating 80 people before you even start.

'handling it' is not a question of whether you managed to complete the steps, or not.
"ML3 is easy" ? You took 7 hours total (I don't even know how long that lotto went on afterwards) to do a 4 hour raid. The actual steps might be easy to do, but planning and leading the raid is not easy.
If you make a general, public raid, you need to expect there to be a LOT of people there - 100+. There is NO WAY solo/group farming steps should be done as part of the raid. Eggs+Swords+Shaman should have all been pre-reqs (doing Moughart on the raid is fine) as it takes 30 minutes to do all with a group, instead of 2+ hours with your BG. Farming these items as part of the raid is the sort of mistake that only someone who's never done ML3 before should make.

Merely more examples of whether you can handle the situation, or not. Turning people away, or kicking them from the BG is not a valid tactic.

Pin imo give him a break, no one's perfect (thx god for that) he did a few things that could mayby have been done better, but generally it was a good raid.
And i doubt that you have ever lead a raid of 80+ppl its not as easy as it might seem

Yeah, okay I was a bit grumpy :p I wasn't on the raid, just know 'a few' people that were kinda pissed off by it.

Last week? https://forums.freddyshouse.com/showthread.php?t=21896 ~130 people
And judging by the amount of people around Aerus the last few days, I'd guess 100-150 people will be on ML8 tonight https://forums.freddyshouse.com//showthread.php?t=22728

I never said it was easy (I said the opposite).
