You could try putting a redirect onto the page to a proper ISP.

Personally i think anyone selling a cheap domain name is always gonna screw you in some way..

Any decent ISP should be able to register a domain name. I use CiX (one of my ISPs) though i think they are a bit expensive, and they got into a massive row a while back over proposed T&Cs (since withdrawn).
Personally watch out for:

*Hidden charges if you decide to change who manages the domain name on your behalf.

*Wether it simply redirects, does some trickery with frames to insert adverts, and/or has its own hosting service.

*Wether it is in your name or theirs that they register.

*CHECK THE SMALL PRINT!!!

The quickest way to redirect is just to put the following into your default.htm/index.htm

<html>
<body>
<script>
window.location="http://<your url here.htm>"
</script>
</body>
</html>

www.gandi.net

About £10 for a .com .org or .net.

It's a bit confusing when it starts going into GANDI IDs and stuff, but easy enough.
