Mirror phone to TV?

For the past few years I've had an HTC Media Link. Great little doohicky that lets me plug into any hdmi TV and mirror my HTC M7 screen to the tv screen. Instant smart tv and movies, music etc, in hotels or staying with friends.
Got the M9 now and the Smart Link doesn't work with it, official from HTC and staying that way.
So I've looked at Chromecast but that seems to need a wireless network. I want something that will communicate directly with my phone to mirror on to the TV, is there such a beast? HDMI would be best as not all TVs have USB.

Depends on your phone, but I think the miracast sticks do that directly.

Hmm, looks interesting, just checked out the Roku Streaming Stick. Nice piece of kit, but still looks like it's needing a wireless network. Checked a few other miracast devices and they all seem to work the same way, ie passing the data through the wireless network. The HTC Media Link does not require a network, the phone talks directly to it.

according to the specs, the one m9 supports MHL, so you should be able to use any MHL adaptor with it. There's a load of them on amazon, and not very expensive, so I'd look into that, as it sounds the closest match to what you had before, going direct to hdmi and not requiring a network.

I say Holmes I think you've cracked it
It's not wireless like the Media Link but that doesn't matter. Ordered this for £7 delivered, I shall report back.....
