mIRC setup help.

My old mIRC installation went when I formatted a few months back.

Now, I want to start again so .....................

  What IRC Server do I connect to.
  
  What IRC channel as well. - IIRC there is a BW channel yeah? How do I get that in?

Quakenet is the Server...

#barrysworld (Main BW Channel)
#bwcs (Barrysworld CS Channel)
#bwadmins (BW Admins)

#bw Is spammy, and uninteresting... Use irc.barrysworld.com as the server! I would say the best place to hang out on the whole of quakenet, is #linux.uk

Now - another question - I have been asked to join a channel called #gbanow.

I use irc.barrysworld.com as my server but when I add #gbanow channel there is nobody about.

Is it just a case of adding a channel regardless of the server or do some channels require specific servers?

It's not really about server, but network. If it's a channel on Quakenet, then you can be on any Quakenet server and access it. There's other popular networks though, including another gaming network(Gamesnet), so their channel proberbly isn't on Quakenet.

Which it should be.

you need to be on efnet for #gbanow

Now how do I actually get the stuff off there ?

once in the filserver chat

you need to do 'dir' (to get a list of the files)
choose the one you want and the 'get filenamehere.zip'

it'll either queue up (if there are other people downloading) or start sending

Im pretty sure that BW acutally host some of b0rk's IRC servers or something.
