Minstrels what are we?

I read with interest the current patch testing and also mythics ideas for next few months on the game inparticular the sorcerors power regen spell and the plan to have personal horses. Now call me Miss cynical but to me, these changes will take away the last of our class defining abilities namely power song and speed song. PvE wise it just about makes the class redundant , why take a mins when u have a sorc with power regen and superior mezz.
Weve been screwed over by many nerfs both direct and indirect ly to other classes and to be honest i dont think mythic have an idea what to do with the class or what direction to go with.

Id appreciate any comments from other minstrels or people who are familiar with the class , please no flames from bored forum trawlers who have no idea of the class as it is now saying go play a skald , weve heard it millions of times. (I would but i just hate the look of dark dingy midgard )

In beta and early in release people couldnt get enough minstrels.

Looks like Sorcs are going to really steal our thunder, or something.

minstrels need lovin.

stealth: nerfed
mcl & serenity: powersong hardly needed
sorc mana crack: powersong never needed (if sorc around)
mezz: nerfed
stun: nerfed

really doesn't leave much but speed, they shoulda given the mana crack to mincers and aoe stun to sorcs, or endurance regen mincers need something.

Oh, wait, you have a terribly exaggerated opinion of your own gimpedness.
Minstrels were never as deadly as archers, and yet got as many nerfs. May not seem that way to you, but then you archers really have been whipped up into a fervour of "omfg, god hates us" crap.
Even your own TL denies half the supposed stealth nerfs last patch. I mean, come on....
Besides which, I've played a borrowed scout for 100k RPs solo (unbuffed btw.) and as far as soloing goes - jesus, my main (which I knew how to play properly, whereas i was a n00b scout) can't hold a candle to it...
Now, as far as grouping goes, I agree you guys are fucked. And I also agree that, compared to where you started, you have probably suffered more than we have. But the point is that you do not NEED to group with non-stealthers. You probably do need to group if you go emain, with other stealthers in order to survive the bloody assassins' hidden zerg; you aren't forced to face the zergy poo of unbalanced RvR.
This isn't an anti-hib/mid whine btw, I'm just pointing out that minstrels once could solo about 80% as well as archers, and you guys still whinge twice as loud as us, and yet.... you're still better than us. So we're not a solo (read: stealth) class anymore? Why have we still got rogue damage, rogue hitpoints, blah blah?

Now, on the topic of the original thread - yeah, who the hell knows?
I mean... charm, AEmezz, etc? It's all not merely out-of-place on this class, but also crap. Can't they just remove it and improve our roguish aspects? They just delivered the final nerf to our support abilities, tedious though they were; a lot of people played their minstrel purely as a support class. Our stealth is crap, really, unless you have IP and are able to take down the shadowblades that WILL assault you ever time you move.
I think all minstrels wish they'd just make up their minds once and for all.
Of course, if they decided to remove stealth and turn us into hybrid tanks/supporters, I'd probably quit the game :p

Did I mention I still love the class? :p

RPs = time played and jack-all else, and you know it.

Also the top-end of any such table will always be occupied by fanatics who play the game well and a lot. Class is barely relevant.
The only scout there is one who solos a lot. The only minstrels there are ones who solo almost never. You're welcome to continue proving my points, but usually arguments aren't won that way :p

REALLY hoping that it take GOA fucking ages to deliver this one. I mean Serenity and MCL was bad enough, but this is just a fucking joke.

I like my Minstrel character a lot. But after this I don't think anyone else is going to. I mean, Sorcerors had such a hard time finding groups already didn't they? Why would anyone want a Minstrel in their group now - just an xp leach.

I didnt know sorcs where getting all of this, Im about to hit 40 as im speaking and had plans for 50, now I know this I feel like stopping my mincer dead... shit, we get so fookin nerfed!
just so happens my mincer is also my main...this sux...badly.

Honestly, I am glad we won't be needed for PS anymore in RvR. Pain in the arse trying to PS for a cleric and two wizards at a keep siege AND patrol the wall for SBs...
What is sad is that with a sorc in town, the still-levelling minstrels are now basically in the same boat as infs and scouts with regards getting a group.
Doesn't bother ME in the slightest, but it's going to suck badly for the non-50 minstrels :|

Seems ironic that ppl are saying Sorcs get groups easy, this certainly wasn't the case when I was levelling up (I only really started getting groups easily at Tanglers).

Hopefully Mythic is going through the Alb classes now and taking a look at ones that really need some improvements. The Sorc has been buggered for a long time and it looks like the Mincer is going the same way (indirect nerfs that have adversely affected the class).

Hopefully this will be sorted soon, otherwise Alb is gonna be without speed in RvR - not a good thing.

And yes, I know the pain of a Mincer - I have a level 43 one who is sort of on hold right now :)

True i cant see any good other things a minstrel can bring to a group in RvR other than demezz/ss5 and thats it maby SoS evry 30min if the minstrel have got a bit of rp. Still speed counts alot in RvR. Demezz was put in specc because when the fight started we actually did not have anything to do... before patch our single mezz owned now we have demezz YeY. stunn last les than 2sec on enemy tank and single mezz get resisted 5 times out of 6.

Another good thing minstrel has 3 insta dd/stun, use to interupt casters only thing they are good for. But in between the 3sec cast time demezz and actually look for a target to interupt the fight is almost over and you decide to just go melee for uber dmg.

Alternative to grouping. Many say go solo. Many say minstrels are uber solo..... BAH get a grip.... and a buffbot then u can solo.

So yes after few patch we are reuced to Speed buffs.... not very comforting and yes mid does look dark and dingy.

advice : hurry and bloody get to 50 before patch then prepare for intense hatred of the game in RvR.

i still think minst is an ok class to play in RvR, but u will need to be around rr6 before it starts to be anygood imo to get sos/ip/purge/passives and woe bedide you if you think you can kill any class other than a rogue (non stealthed) thats 3 rrs or more below you.


and for gawds sake give my stun the same range as poxy bloody wussy git noobie bards insta mes. so pissed off that i can get drop start cast and get screwed on.

Not sure where u found those numbers. I checked the link u quoted - Arcthic on 37. No other scouts.

I think you have taken the Albion RP/week.
If that is the case there should be roughly 3 times as many scouts as there are in the link i gave as there now are only 1/3 the number of classes competing.
Which actually fits quite nicely.

Wel minstrels usually Group in Rvsr and scouts solo ;) and also scout are great but hard to lvl so that explains why there are beter( and more ) Minstrels then scouts in rp points :D

But from duels i found out i cant kill :

Paladin ( 2h or 1h/shield tryed both and ended in pain Body resist +Shield slam Block is painfull verry painfull :D )
Armsman ( Shield/slash = dont do damage whit sword = almost al hits are blocked + Dd do damage but 15 second timer isnt really great and every tanks lvl 50 has uber body resists )
Also other realm's Tanks are hard or nearly imposible to kill
(Zerker, Blademaster, ... )

So just gonna have to face it we where made to kill casters :D or just suport clas

It is true that the RP/Week list proves little in terms of class viability.

However, when you observe a certain class or group of classes being absent from that list over a longer period of time, it can tell you something about the number of ppl that enjoy playing the class in RvR.

Nuts to being a support class.
We were soloists until every other class got love and we didn't. :p
Incidentally I consider the two biggest minstrel nerfs to be CC duration decreased by resist, causing everyone to cap out their body, and the fact that RAs are in the game at all...
