Of course it is, but when it comes down to it, it's the same spec. One more slash and one less stealth makes very little difference.

IP can save a group. Keeping one more person alive, especially someone with mez can make a big difference to a fight.
Zerging the lords room isn't that useful with sos, it's hard enough going up those stairs at normal speed, let alone 200% and you rarely get CCed, normally just killed with pbae.
Passing a milegate, sure it works, I've done it, I got hit with a root on the way through though so I came to a grinding halt pretty quickly. Also, I don't go to emain, so being able to rush amg isn't that useful to me.
Anyway, how often have you seen a minstrel use sos for anything but running away?

with 44+14 instruments I could only really hold about level 53/54, I dont' think super high instruments is worth it for charm, you seem to get diminimshing returns.

Aye, it sucks, side slicer might be useful though.

I usually do 10-20% more damage with backslash, so it's worth it.

Keep in mind that a lvl 39 Style with Medium damage does more damage than a lvl 29 style with Medium damage.

It's not just the Medium or High, it's the level of the style too.

Not anymore Teador, style bonus damage scales with spec of your weapon (as of err 1.45 I think). Cross slash (level 4) hits harder than amethyst slash (level 29) for me. Back slash will hit harder than amethyst because it's positional, not anytime though.

Cleave has higher damage cap than Amethyst aswell.
I tried it fully buffed on grays, was something like Amethyst 220, Cleave 250

test on lvl 1 mobs to check cap damage's.

Please, test the style damages, the shift+i doesn't tell much about the style's damage & fatigue, just give some pointers :|
Backslash does the same damage as diamond slash ;|

and if i had to chose ip or sos i would chose sos!
i like to be group friendly and stuff.........
