Whats the minimum spec at these days for decent rvr, Also a price tag if possible. Wouldn't mind a little run around pc up at new flat to log on now and then. Cheers, Infan.

I've actually got this question myself, I haven't played daoc in a year or so and back then my RvR was always laggy, since then though i've ever so slightly upgraded my PC. I'm going to start again and an idea of what I need would be helpful...

Memory - 1Gb or more (ideally 2Gb)
Good Graphics card - Personally I'd go for a GeForce 7600 or above. Nvidia cards historically have fewer problems than Ati one (probably Devs working with Nvidia cards) on Camelot.

The rest of the spec is less important, generally. Processor just needs to be reasonable. Same with Hard drives.

If you really want to push the boat out go for dual processors (less interferance from background tasks), and get three hard drives - one for your OS/data files, two in RAID 0 format (not very safe, breaks if either drive does, but higher read performance for fast load times/transition times/reduced texture loading lag) for the games.

Currently I'm below those specs a bit (1Gb memory and Geforce 4600Ti), and run ok except in large zergs. When I upgrade it'll be to a high spec machine, but not doing it for a few months, so don't know to what yet. I have tried playing Camelot on a machine with 2 processors, 2gb memory, SLi GeForce 7900, three hard drives (game on RAID 0), and it was amazingly slick.

2600 mhz or faster cpu (intel) or a 2600 xp (amd)
gfx a 7800 GT card or equal,
1024 mb of memory (duel channel)
2xharddrive in sata raid (helps alot if you dual log)

2600mhz is by far not needed if you ask me. And the raid drives are a bit over the top. It's the memory that does it.

He's asking for the minimum spec not the ninjaspec ;)

i'd say i must be near the min spec for smooth(ish) daoc

1gb ram or more
9800pro w/128mb ram or better, any ~£80-100 card should be fine
ideally 2 good harddrives of approximately the same speed, 1 with your game data/OS and the other with swap file, or just one good modern HD.

i dont think processor has much affect on daoc, since im running an xp1800 (would like to get hold of xp2600 tho :p) its all about ram and gfx.

a new pc, for 800€-900€ or 520-600 pound (without monitor) should do it. :x

- Memory: 1GB
- Videocard: nvidia: 6600GT or better, Ati's equivalent of that (80quid and up generally)
- atleast a few GB free space on your windows drive (so, i'd take 20GB for windows, or more 30GB for programs too). Games on another HD.
- Processor. Least important, unless you go for eXtreme!! performance. Generally a new CPU (amd64 3800, or intel's equivalent) is good enough. But that doesn't mean a amd2200 or P4 2.4 (example) sucks, they do fine too.
