Or thats what it just says :p and it's all made you belive it because some scientist said it does or it says it on the side of the packet so it must do it !

I see now were ODing comes from

hey im not studying to become on of these scientist for nothing you know :D

people are sometimes too cynical of what "scientists" say, but to be honest, occasionally a healthy dose of cynicism is a good thing (like the whole MMR jab rubbish, but thats a topic for another day ;) )

woot, finally i can educate people with my fine knowledge :D

in regards to pain killers and how they know where the pain is.

they dont know where it is. if we take aspirin as an example:

to put it simply, aspirin works by stopping an enzyme from doing its normal stuff. i did type a big paragraph here and then realised not everyone may understand it.

then there is other drugs, which mimic things that would normally attach to an enzyme or mimic the chemical messengers in your brain.

take cannabis. the Delta-12-Tetrahydrocanabinol mimics a cannabinoid already found in the brain. so the stuff from your weed binds onto these receptors and causes them to function differently.

Pain is a signal your body needs to respond to. If your hand is toasting away in a campfire, it´s not "fear leaving your body", it´s a "hey, there´s something wrong, change that ffs!" message sent to you. Same is true for every other injury.
Of course, for a soldier, it´s maximum effectivity if he´s ready/willing to ignore that signal.

thats my point, as a soldier if you stop everytime you feel pain or tired then you wont get anywhere.

He didnt ask how to stop the pain or what it was, only to ignore it

the brain doesn't feel pain. its funny that its the area that tells you to do something about pain, but never actually feels it.

tris, the cannabinoids found in the brain/body are called "endocannabinoids". :) although, i expect you already know this :p
edit: isn't it delta-9 present in cannabis? i swear thats what my lecturer said <goes to check notes>
Mey, pop a bloody painkiller. an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen should help.

No guys your all wrong the cannabinoids are evil deep space pirates who rape and pillage hampsters everywhere and are the arch nemisis of the endocannabinoids who search the galaxy in the quest to destroy the cannabinoids at all costs...

AT ALL COSTS MAN SAVE THE HAMPSTERS!!!!!

Pain boy: Do not try and heal the pain. That's impossible. Instead... only try to realize the truth.
Mey: What truth?
Spoon boy: There is no pain.
Mey: There is no pain?
Spoon boy: Then you'll see, that it is not the pain that changes, it is only yourself.

Best way to deal with everyday aches and little pains (and to better withstand large doses of pain on occasion) is to excersice regularely, since when you do your body builds up a buffer of its own natural painkiller (also induces feelings of contentment and joy etc) called endorphin. It attaches itself to the very same receptors (amongst others) in the brain and spinal cord that morphin (a powerfull painkiller) does and will cause the same effects, although to a lesser degree. It will also make you feel better in general.
