Actually the ranger in that movie was nothing special

You'll see most of his kills were:
- Res sick
- Not lvl50
- Done with poisons on his weaps from an NS

Rangers have high damage output in melee, very high, if you add assassin poisons to that like he did then there's no way you should lose against anything much except maybe friars (and I say only friars not zerkers because friars are dex based, the str/const debuff wont do much to them - it will to zerkers).

I have a question, how does it really work? Let's say that an assassin uses snare on a mincer and the mincer goes SoS, does he run off in max speed or does he have to purge it before he can do the SoS thingy?

I have an odd feeling that it overruns snare even if a DoT is still ticking. Snared mincers and used DoT, seen them take damage while running of in SoS speed, which means that he/she cant have purged. Is it bugged, supposed to work this way or am i just plain wrong here?

SoS = wimpy minstrel runs away before he gets hit becuase they are all wussies and remind me of a nesh poncy dude

Depends if the ranger has longshot to land that final blow

Also, speed shout at 35 pathfinding + sprint is enough to catch up with a non-sprinting but SoSing Minstrel I've found, although it does take some time to catch up it's very close.
