Any level really, it depends on the type of RvR you want.

For emain zergs 40+ is high enough to be effective, especially if your a healer (never seen anyones SC template designed with resisting heals in mind :D)

for 1fg Vs. 1fg (which is basically everywhere else) 47-48+ depends on if its a pick up group or a guild group.

Realisitically, if your a low 40 than the majority of your RvR will likley be in guild groups. I've seen to many people demanding that sombody is kicked/not invited into our group because they con blue or somthing stupid.

Just my opinion, it depends on circumstance more than anything.

46+ to have a chance (you con yellow then), 50 to be able to compete properly, there is a hell of a difference between 49 and 50, although its excentuated in some classes more than others

aye i agree with carlos, and i think most people who play melee chars in rvr will at least . to put it simply i kill level 49 sbs in 3 hits , level 50 ones can be a serious pain
the difference from 49 - 50 imo is HUGE!!!!!! and going any lower is kind of putting yourself at an imediate disadvantage

I think most of that huge difference is down to the Epic armour and not the difference in level.

its the level as well

50/49

at 50 all mages get an extra 50 af, helps quite a bit
those that use baseline + some spec stuff will only get best nukes at 50

tanks - lvl 50 styles, extra dps/af

assasins - evade 7, df for infs

also a 49 will get a damage and to hit penality against lvl 50s (most people)

a lvl 50 will hit a lvl 49 far harder than another 50, not sure if it's due to added caps, bonuses etc
but from 49-50 everything changes a lot as far as damage taken/giving goes.

Depends what you are, really. If you have PBT then you could go, technically. My friar went at lvl 42 and is now 44 and nearly RR3 or something. Sorc started at around 44, I think.

i went a 38 with my scout and had great fun shooting purple cons for 80-100 damage only problem was DoTs virtually killed me in 10 secs

imo under 45 and you will get killed very quickly (i mean quicker than the normal quick)

Went in with my lvl 42 bm today together with 47 guildie. Guildie got toasted by red-con (to me) inf. Inf survived with about 3/4 hp left, I had still full hp... I was the one left standing.

I dunno one of the things I miss the most since being 50 is the warm fuzzy feeling you get from 46-49 when you kill someone solo who cons orange to you, knowing there higher level, that used to be nice.

But quite right for a melee type you want to be high 40ies at least, support characters can get away with being a bit lower.

RvR these days is a level 50ies playing ground.

How many of you still remember the days before we had battlegrounds when we used to go to emain at around level 15, before RA's and before the BG's when thats all there was.

46+ with SC. Otherwise 50, for epic. You want to be yellow con tho or you're going to get seriously trashed by anyone attacking you no matter how good your gear.

yeh i have to agree with most people here. i started takeing Finley RvRing at 38 and he dies way to quickly. he is now 44 and it is still damn hard to find something to jit that doesn't con red. but he can just about cope with healing.

but then again he managed RR2 by level 41 so he must have been ok ;)

IMO...

45+ - to start with (some RPs 4 easy leveling)
50 - to start to learn HOW to RvR good
RR5 - to be effective

My cleric started going into RvR at level 20 and was perfectly viable.

But that was, ahem, some time ago.

Today, to have a real effect I'd say....

Rejuv Clerics: lvl 41ish, preferably with 50% rez.
Casters: As soon as you get your last primary spec line main spell (eg. aoedot, pbaoedd, spec dd, aoemez, even pbt, whatever it is you plan to use most)
Tanks: lvl 46ish
Rouges: lvl 46ish
Minstrels: As soon as you have speed 5

That said, you should try and join a guild group earlier, just to pick up a few RAs to use for levelling.

got 46 some days ago to get last ae dot :D its rr4 atm.. going for rr5

having that said... for most classes.. u really need to be 50 to actually compete... but hey u can have fun at any lvl! dont expect some enemy to not kill u cause ur grey though :p

Starting taking my Sorc out at about 42 with a guild group - even at that level her aoe mezz could change tide of a 1fg v 1fg battle. She's still only 47 and is now r3l4 - imo IF you can get a guild group get out there and get to rr3 the extra RAs and skill points will really help in those last long xp'ing levels.

Of course I still expec to die fast minute anyone notices me but its good to learn how to stay unnoticed ;)

46+ for caster
50 for tanks
low 40's for healers/shammys

but in zergs all above 40 can make a different ill say..

For Clerics: 30+. I went to emain at 30 with my cleric(now 31) and he had a good time in Emain :). Got some RP's etc. Was in a nice lvl 50 group, good thing I'm a rejuver :)

36+ if you got a guild group :)

if you want to actually get a pickup group 46+

it is a bit different at 50 I'd blame that on my epic armour and getting dual shadows 50 style :)
most <50s don't have full SCed suits or at least they never used to

My 42 wizard's life expectency went sky high when he got his...

As for to-hit/damage they removed all that :)

As many have said, the gap between 49 and 50 is huge. Not just in terms of dishing it out and being able to take it but also in terms of RP earnt. You get a much bigger slice of the pie at 50 :)

I think the new system in the next patch where lower levels all con yellow will help a bit as 50's will be a bit more wary. You could, afterall be an uber 50 in SC gear rather than a trembling newb who couldn't even scratch their armour.

All said and done though, if you get zerged it doesn't matter if you are 30,40 or 50...being 50 might just buy you an extra 1/100 of a second.
