Just wondered what your thoughts are

Who do you think/Would like to be a Leader of Midgard

That means to take charge. someone to listen to and give orders.

Also need people to actually listen.

Just think about 1 person that stands out in your eyes, so lets see those names :p

/salute the oldleaders azal, blej, durgi, roo. Put em in alphabetical order since I dont want to compare em.. There are some flaws in there dont have to bring it up, but how they lead midgard will always be rememberd..

To lead I vote LENORE!
She is dedicated has the playtime and I really think people would listen to her... I would gladly bring either my hunter, sb, warrior if she needs me... For the "fairy" I would go to war any day..

I can't just vote for 1 person, but I do feel there are more that will be good leaders. Not in any particular order:

Sir Bluesky Rising
Trollum
Lenore
Belorfyn
<and a few more I've forgotten>

i vote for Dwera ;)

tho i honestly think this is a waste of time and effort. been on many nf raids/defences where fellow mids just ignore whoever is the raidleader, and goes soloing.. and ofcourse there's the bunch sitting by a treb or catapult, shooting the enemies.. that's just low. well, siege weapons was a lot of fun in the beginning, but camping outside a keep defending with 10 catapults isnt my idea of good teamwork :)
but i wish you good luck with the Leader of Midgard selection tho :D

I vote for Trollum, even tho I don't "know" him.

All I know is he's the first man into the siege and usually the last man out (when he finally gets a rezz :D)

rofl, I think anyone would make a good leader really. If people just listen from the start.

In a state of crisis there are a few who stand out those are prob the ones you remember. But that dosn't mean they are the best suited for the mission.

I just wish people would listen and do what the leader says .. or the leaders will get tired of leading ... and we would lose the last of the mid leaders :(
Roo, Durgi and Belor was always good leaders
but Roo and Durgi isnt here .. and I think belor dont want to lead.

So .. Dwera and Trollum would be my choices

It's a while since Ive seen Belor around (or have just been blind?), but would definitely go for him.

One thing I have noticed in those BG's about a good leader is:
- He is polite. Ie, he doesn't flame people constantly in the BG (use /sends if need be).
- He explains reasons when there is time. That gives much more purpose for those following.
- He never yells. All too often it seems those deemed raid leader turns on caps-lock and keeps it there. No reason for that, BG leaders have different colours.
- He sets goals to fullfill. For the participants that means something to accomplish instead of just blindly following direct orders.
- He deligates objectives. People are much more prune to react if they have their own responsibilities. Ie, set 2fg with a named sub leader to deal with something particular.

When raid leaders fails to do these things it usually turn ugly. Often it's seen by people simply not listening to the guy. Then the guy starts screaming louder and louder until he finally 'quits in disguts' and noone have had a fun time there.

A good leader makes ppl want to listen and makes ppl want to follow. Far from anyone have that.

A good leader needs to earn the respect from those he wants to follow him. In my book this is never obtained by screaming in caps in faul language - its very disrespectfull and I personally would never listen to such a person.
If your not getting heard the first time then try one more time. If still no success then try some other time - never ever resort to CAPS and "GOD DAMN FUCKING NOOOBS, LISSON TO MEH!" it will earn you no good.. Better to just resign from leadership and go do something else.
Maybe, just maybe the nxt time people will start listening to you and you will start to show some results in your leadership meaning more people will listen to you from thereafter - respect. :fluffle:

There are the reasons why I shouldn't be a leader these days. I need a loooong break from daoc if anyone is going to see me talk like that again.

personally nobody should have to earn respect, they should be respected from the off, and by thier actions people can choose whether to keep respecting them or not :)

The problem with trying to lead midgard is that it doesn't help to ask nicely, beg, or scream... noone listens anyhow. if you don't want to have leaders screaming to you, ye gotta listen from the start cos in a big raid it's like you're talking to a brick wall.

Imo Midgard doesn't need a leader, when we rly need a leader for like rr defence ppl step forward and get a good responce. We will learn in time if we get a leader on not. To post like this does nothing ^^

I vote for Rarn because unless he's got boring since I took my break he'd have us all running round in tutus shouting "look at me, I'm a ballerina!"

I wasn't directing that towards you Trollum. To be honest, I haven't been part of that many /bg's to know whetever you have tried to lead like that.

It was not meant to thumb anyone indirectly. It was meant to share what I think a good leader is and is not. :)
