Microsoft can now "update" without your permission

'Silent' Windows update raises issues
Microsoft can update WITHOUT even warning you or asking you..they won't even tell you what they "updated".
This is absolutely ridiculous.. these "silent updates" especially after Vista, M$ seems to enjoy installing all kinds of updates. They now do it silently probably because it makes it "safer" for everyone.

I been using Ubuntu for everything (except games)last 6 month - its really great, and with the XGL & Kiba-Dock its amasing..take a look

Never had a issue with MSFT products (Considering the XP I use can install legit stuff with no issue, even though the key I used (OEM disc) was used on a few machines) - Just applied a few fixes here and there and poof

but at least MS patches dont work anymore, thats a bonus right!

but in the end who cares what it installs. the computer wont suddenly grow legs and walk around spying on you and reporting back to the government. it wont come alive and rape your mam while it steals her credit card deals. im pretty sure computers dont come alive anyway, maybe joor knows something we dont. something quite terrible.

There is a situation where this could be good if they discover a really bad security flaw rather than telling the world about it to try and get people to patch it they could just update it. Telling the world just gets hackers attacking machines using the flaw?

Sorry but only a idiot will say this isn't a bad idea for a siginificant number of users,
Here are some scenario's which do and have happened in the past:
-a patch breaks certain hardware configurations, anyone remember the realtech bug?
-If updates break certain custom software, i can name loads but you get the idea
-Security flaws opened as a part of the update e.g. Document.ExecCommand()
-Development machines
-Security flaws opened up as the process doesnt require user input, e.g. HTTP redirects

None of these examples hold true to the update they forced out do they? Microsoft have said they have done it before and COULD do it again not as off today we will push out each and every update we want to your machine including hardware.

So i will say sorry but only an idiot would read that and go into full Microsoft will patch and break everything without me agreeing mode.
