Yeh. You fap over Greenday, therefore your opinion doesn't count xD

I like Greenday and Metallica, seen them both 3 times, I wish people would not compare (cos u cant) and take each for what they are.

no

megadeth at astoria > metallica at wembly :p

Oh noes it's the Megadeth Vs Metallica monster, feeling bitter on Mustain's behalf still are we Succi? :p

Everyone knows it's a very popular thing to either hate metallica or say "Everything post the black album sucks!".

Your forgot

It's not the same since cliff died

Megadeth are better and Mustaine should never have been sacked.

Metallica @ Wembley - Who's there?

Noone!

Well that's the basic metallica reply :D

I'm so good at this forseeing future thing...ah...

Personally, steeldrum=win.

It's as simple as that. No other band uses that drum in such a , well, classic manner. Not that it's just the drum that's good. Much like Korn and the guitar.

Metallica is good music, but being the best? Well, that's a slippery ho i'm not going into.

The sheer amount of people who say "Yeah, everything before the black album was good but after sucked" and then asking them to name a song would draw a blank is just ludicrous. I can guarantee there are a vast number of people who do generally beleive this but for every beleiver, there seems to be a fanboi in their wake.

I saw them on the black album tour, was superb. I am one of the ones who went off them after that. I personally just think they lost their way and their drive/spark. Most bands do in long careers. Nothing i've heard since does it for me... But then again Ride the lightning is my favourite album and i never rated Cliff as a particually inspiring bass player either :)

eksdee, I don't give a shit about Greenday. You think I care if my facts where 'wrong'? :) When growing up, I didn;'t know about Greenday, I knew about Punk though. No one ever mentioned it (No one I knew older than me) yet; people mentioned bands like Metallica/Pantera/Slayer etc. So.. STFU? :) Greenday must of not been as 'infulential' as everyone thinks. Fuck me, Ramones are better than Greenday.

Smartest thing I've read all week.

Never ever said they're the best. But they're one of the ones that will be remembered (Crue/Tallica/GnR/Ozzy/Sabbath etc) in the future for what they did to the genré. xD

Can't think of the BEST band.. Maybe Queen? Maybe Phil Collins/Genesis?

EDIT:

Also, everything before S&M was good. Black album was okay.. xD

.

People who have no idea what music is, outside of the chart world. Shouldn't take part in this discussion. *pats*

People who think it's random notes/drums need to listen to proper music... THOUGH! I heard one of their new songs, it's not THAT bad. (Better than Anger)

At least spell his name right :>

And nah, I love both bands. But metallica sold out in a much bigger way than megadeth did, and megadeth are still producing and playing live awesome music.

Metallica are good live, but two members in particular are getting very sloppy which is the opposite to megadeth (mustaine fucked his arm up in 2004 and had to relearn guitar from scratch). Mustaine isnt bitter anymore, however im the first to admitt he has talked shit throughout his career (mainly due to being under the influence)

And yes, KEA->AJFA are the only metallica records i enjoy listening too... with megadeth having released far less 'shit' ones

edit: what the fuck is old.tohtori going on about ? STEEL DRUMS? Are you talking about the st anger snare? Lars just unscrewed the actual 'snare' (wires underneath) to get that sound

Oh and going back to the whole denmark 1 - 0 england thing. I wouldnt boast too much, there are several thousands people who will testify to how much of a **** lars is... and he's prolly one of the (if not THE) most unpopular people in metal. That danish accent + arrogant intonation is fucking awful

haha, well im clearly not a big fan. :)

I hate the term sell out, I think it is overused, people and therfore bands move on as the rest of us do, I have very little in common with myself 15 years ago I don't get why people think it's an issue when people/bands move on?

So you like heavier music, the great thing about Metallica is you can rip all there cd's and compile one for most moods. Heavy is good, but not everyday, I don’t understand why people who don’t like an album or a type of music or a band refer to them negatively. Arguing about which band is best just seems pointless as it is way to subjective.

Anyways Succi, if you had to recomend 1 Megadeth album to someone who had never sat down and listened to a whole album by them, what would it be?

Let me guess, you like some form of computerised chart music whereby no actual instruments are used?

And as for the playing random notes on the guitar, did you know heavy metal has in fact got the closest musical link to classical music then any other genre? In fact, in terms of lead guitar, the only band of genres deemed more difficult are from jazz.

I know you probably don't care, just thought I'd point it out anyway.

And metallica are far from randomness, just listen to any song from S&M; having a classical orchestra behind them is something most bands or even most genres simply couldn't do...

I'd agree with the first, although it's not difficult as GnR didn't produce another outstanding album :)
But for Megadeth... Peace Sells > Rust in Peace.
But I agree with Ride the Lightning, especially as it still has Dave's signature licks being played in the songs.

Personally i have every metallica album and i think they're all fucking quality in their own right. Even St. Anger, sure it's no master of puppets but then it was never going to be nor was it trying to be. Still a good album for what it is imo.

And don't get me started on Greenday, they're an insult to the whole punk category.

MOP I didn't actually like :S Still prefered RTL.. Allways did. Just because Fade to Black and The Call of Ktulu (Amongst the rest) are on it, and I found them better songs than most of the others.

I love Metallica, simply because it's music for every mood. Sure, thier style did change from the Black Album and forward but they also changed as a band. I personally think that if they would stuck with the old style they still would't be a band now which would be sad in my opinion because then we would't have songs like King Nothing, The Unforgiven, Wherever I may Roam etc.

Like most things the opinions 80% of people have on music is just simply parroting what they believe to be the cool thing to say.

Bands that have also been around for over 5 years also have no way of coming off well in such discussions. Either they simply churn out the same stuff for the next 5 years and people complain that they are just copying the last album, or they try to do something different at which point all the people who loved the first album claim they are now crap because the last album wasn't as good as their first. Real bands produce music that they like and want to play, not just stuff that people that liked the last album want. Some fans will like both, some will only like one but not the other. The idea that a band should be pigeonholed into producing music that sounds like X for 20 years and doing anything other than that is selling out or abandoning their fans is just crap imo.

Metallica have done some songs that I love and some songs that i'm not that fond of. I'm fairly sure my choiced would differ from many fans. Producing a great album seems to be a really bad move for most bands however, since no matter what they do after that everyone is always going to label it as "crap compared to X".
