Mercenary versus Berserker

Late night ventures into Emain can be very funny. Here is what happend to me. A very nice tale, and a very successful evening for me:

I went to Emain at about 2-3 am, just to try and see how far I could get into enemy territory. As I approached the milegate, I found the doors open. After careful observation I found 2 orange trolls and a grey Lurikeen sitting there in peace. I joined the feast and we all waved and danced a bit. Then one Troll (Nork, orange to me at lvl 40) beckoned me to a fight. He was orange to me, but a berserker and so the midgardian equivalent of my own class. I agreed to the fight and literally kicked his ass, thanks to my dirty trick which made him fumble a lot. We did not fight to the death though, as his healer friend healed him a bit and gave me a warning nuke, so we stopped and rested. He was buffed too I guess, while I was not.
Soon after we were all rested, he beckoned me for a second duel. We fought again, and this time he chopped me to pieces pretty fast by changing into a bear. My dirty trick could not yet be used thanks to the timer, and so I died, as he could not stop his berserking attacks either.
So release I do, and go back, only to find Nork and another Troll healer/shaman (both orange) at our Portal Keep. In their company: The grey Lurikeen and a yellow elf caster, together with a blue celt hero/champion. I dueld the celt and had him down to almost death in three swipes, then we sat and relaxed a bit again. The trolls wandered off and so I thought I'd take on both hibernians. I beckoned them both and defeated them with ease, though the caster mezzed me. I must admit that it seemd the celt thought I wanted to duel the caster, and so he did not help him much at first and I had it fairly easy in killing them, but I think I would have prevailed anyway. The trolls returned afterwards, and I fought the orange healer guy, who I would have beaten too if his friend (Nork again) had not interfered.
I release again and return, this time with 2 albions coming with me. I find Nork again at the milegate and beckon him to fight me. And after laughing at me, that big strong orange-con clad in black armor berserker fell swiftly to my whirling blades. He went into bear form, but my dirty trick cuased him to fumble lots and so I beat him. Yes, I alone killed an orange con berserker! A while later the two of us meet again and he runs away from me. I follow and have him mezzed by Tripp the minstrel. We fight again, but this time I pull my dirty trick too slowly, allowing him to hit me once in his bear form (which really hurts). The fight was still very close though, but he survived with one pixel of health left. Tripp finished him off, and the night ended.

So in total, I killed three enemies all by myself tonight, one of them being stronger than me. I feel very very powerful right now. And I have found my personal fun arch-enemy tonight. Expect death when next you meet me, Nork

its dirty melee , casting sand opposite face etc etc, makes him/her miss a 50% hits, not sure % but its close.
timer, was it 30 minute? and effect was 15 second, not sure these but come first in my mind.
very nice effect when works.

most mercs doing slash damage are quite effective against a zerker(Hitting as hard with there +'s)

The mean thing is: Zerk Berserker mode means almost no defense but much pain IF he hits. Increased Fumble spell (merc dirty trick) makes him fumble all his attacks. That means I can kick the crap out of him extra-big as he has no defense, while he can't hit me with his über-attack cause he fumbles all the time
But my dirty trick has a timer of 30 minutes yes, and I think the Berserker-Mode has a much shorter timer. And without my dirty trick he wasted me quite fast. I'd really like to know his level, as he conned orange to me. I am lvl 40, what's your level then, Nork?

lol, nice... so as a zerker never use the bear mode since if the dirty tricks thing is done on you, you die

Baaah just to stealth and sit down reg end if you get dirty tricked while some green/grey cons is bashing on hendrick. His dirty trick is empty dravel... His swords though Ouch they hurt

One thing I found really funny from yggdra today a blue con theurgists pet hit as hard as you with style.

Unfortunately, a bloody patrol from the relic keep got us while we were sneaking round to you.

Iunliten, that was a very very cool fight. I saw through your stealth when you tried sneaking up behind me (rotating camera is always wise), /stick, bash, bash, when suddenly your mates come. You were 2 blue and 2 greens if I remember correctly and it was a bit of a close one. All this crazy running around from your side really drove me mad. And yes, you were blue to me. And yes, I feel very weak. I can't even one-shot a grey After I killed you guys I got a bit careless and tired and charged a grey con exp-group without proper check. I let the slightly wounded people run off, attacked some close greens and was suddenly surrounded by maybe 10 green-grey people. My tired self did not quite get that blue thane nuking me all the time, and suddenly I was very amazed that my health had half gone. Well, overhaul of masses I guess. Still nice fighting there, though some of them dared laugh at my dead body.
I think I will come over there more often now, these small skirmishes are hell of a fun and I always learn new things there.

zerkers go slash, while you prolly had some nice slashresistant chainarmor, eh? etc.

Aaaah hendrick assumed they were grey/green to you because they conned blue and green to me too (hate those great level ranges)

And of course I am gonna run around not gonna let a red mercenary put his sword in me while having that sand stuff over my head...

When you found me the first time I was on the hunt for a red con ranger that had plauged the land of yggdra but always escaped me when I attacked then a highlander starts running around close to me and took me completly by surprise.

And yes I saw the fight when you had went down but had just been killed by a certain red con ranger and couldn't join the feast. Gave you a cheer and bow to your body though... Don't care about the grey cons laughing btw... was only grey cons that did it who I doubt hit you.

And you are welcome to yggdra anytime just need another level so you at least con orange to me.

If you are 1-2 levels above me, I am pretty confident I can kick your sorry middie butt, provided I did not waste my dirty trick on someone else before. If I did, well, may be a bit hard then. But come forward and receive a beating I say. /flex

Yep, that's our dirty trick. How was the quote in the ultimate guide to DAoC-classes? "WASSAMATTA got dirt in your eyes? Well NOW YOU DO!"

It's a really cheap and mean trick, but it works very well. After all we are no Knights in shining armor or godly holy nice and friendly paladins.
