Light if you wanna drop stuff fast.

Mana if you wanna be a support character and own at keep defence.

The best thing about mentalist is any spec you have is gonna be good (Apart from mentalism for the time being). You can even decide not to fully spec one path and spec in two and still be a well rounded character.

For example:

Get 36 in mana for regen 4 and second to last AEDoT and you'll be able to get 38 in light meaning you get the second to last best spells in light but still be wanted by groups and make your downtime managable and still be fun in keep defence.

Some people do this, it's a good spec.

I'm full mana and am finding it the most fun character I've ever played.

I'm going mana 46 light 26 and Mentalism 10.

The best thing to do is ask yourself what you enjoy doing, then spec around that. You won't really need to worry about other magic lines until much later on anyway. If you wanna do light, just go for it. It's shit loads of fun.

I don't think there is any need to bring light past 45 tbh, you'll get nothing from it.

I find that the mentalist offers some of the most awesome spec options of the casters in game, it's really hard to gimp your character even if you try :)

I've been dual speccing light/mana and have 33 light 24 mana and 6 ment atm.

Duoing with my chanter m8 I've had aoe dot, aoe dd, decent mana crack and and heals to keep pet alive. I'm going 45 light/29 mana/6 ment because I prefer dd to dot.

Mana is prolly the best group spec but with light soloing is lucrative even at very high lvls. With mana crack and MCL from bg1 + ur spec line dds youre 1 of the best soloing classes in game.

P.s. nerf!

Best regards

hehe, I spent my first 10 RA points on STT for the laugh.

What a freaking cool RA that is for mentalists. You go from struggling to duel kill chanters to killing them without even getting hit.

In RvR it's also quite funny to see a Theurgists pets run after you and then suddenly run back and start hitting their owner.

It's most a most recommended skill to have imho.

48 mana split light/mentalism as you see fit if you like to dot, and what I would recommend for RvR. Groupfriendly for levelling, Superb AE soloers when you can AEdot kite mobs.

45 light 24/29 mana rest mentalism if you like to hit mobs for really hard damage, in RvR this specc lacks, as of 1.54 a manachanter can heal himself, power crack himself, nuke harder, and have better pets (Hib frontier pet sucks, Albion onces are hidden deep behind guards and midgard once is still good: Frost stallion), not very group friendly, getting a light ment is like getting second prize in the group.
Remember though at 45(44?) enhance friars get a 26% heat resist buff.

For thidranki go 24 mana.

DO NOT GO SPLIT SPECC; the 45 light DD got an 20% resist rate, I even find myself baseline nuke to avoid outright resists. Going splitspecc will just result in tons of resists

I am 48 light, 24 mana, 6 mentalism. This spec leaves no points left over at all.

Can hold level 54 pets and nuke hard but only have mana crack 3.

My ment has 46mana 26light 10mentalism

46 mana gives best aoe dot. combined with Wild Arcana RA this is a nasty spell in keepdefence. Including crack 5 and 133hps/tick HoT, you should be able to withstand most nasty things coming your way, and not run out of mana at the same time.

26 light gives me some form of aoe DD, and makes me able to hold charmed pets upto lvl 48 (49+ tends to nipple too much on me lil lurrilegs)

10 mentalism isnt much useful, but atleast it gives u a 30second mes and somewhat stable heals.

Me, but then again I like healing anyway :)
My Ment is going for 46 Mana/28 Ment/4 Light.
That will give me a 305hp heal on top of the cure mezz too.
Not sure how good the mezz will be tho, only 37 atm and didnt get to spend too much points in mentalism yet.

my ment is
48 mana (last single dot)
20 light
10 mentalism (dumping it would give me + 2 more in light i think)
now i got this 24 secs mez, which i used few times i reckon

anyhow, what i'd suggest about ment
dont make one
it used to be a very funny char to play, and certianly PvE wise is still
but rvr with all those ubba rezists available, interrupt crap, all classes having instas but mages, u can be very dissapointed.
unless u get a chanter at ur side to debuff ur nukes, ull be doing crap dammage, ur stun wont save u, ull be killed , slammed and dead eating dust b4 u can do anyhting about it :)

Edit: ah, get Long Wind 2, u can still run in circles hoping someone will get those assas and tanks after you :D

Just random thoughts, cos it's late and i'm bored...

Taking light past 45 does do something - it increases max lvl of charmable mobs, not by much tho'. Take it to 50 (my spec) and u can prolly do a couple of lvl's over a 45 spec. Only problem, take it past 48 and ur not gonna have enought points to get crack 3.

I second ShiShi, longwind rocks!

Think the balance tipped towards mana ments post patch, at least rvr...if ur gonna have to run cos ur stun lasts 0.5s, u might as well DoT them first ;)...only thing is they lot of them coming up, and mana ments dont stack (u only need one cracker, one AoE dotter, etc in grp).

Mael, 50th ment.

hmm above 45 is surely useful, Maeloch is 50 light and charms higher lvl pets, frosty stallions is a nasty pet in Odins ;)
