looks like a kamikaze template, nice offensive stats but weak defense. Melee rangers should focus at defense imo, you will use squall almost all the time, it has a low growth rate so style dmg is not that important. We don't have remedy to avoid enervate, disease and str debuff.

all poisons are body dmg, right? so they will have shorter duration with more body resists, but i managed to cap it.. should i try to get even more resists or are you talking about more hits etc?

Shorter duration is irrelevant, you'll most probably die or kill your opponent in that time.

Do you cap your qui?

I must admit your weapon choice makes it extremely difficult to come up with a "capped" all around temp. Maybe try and swap in Champ mainhander if you are determined to use TD, then it would free up the gem slot and swap golm with EDS.

Having 17 cold / 6 heat is another big mistake, I would estimate that 75% of the leggie users out there run heaters / colders rather than spirit / matter (or energy for that sake) simply because of the current damage tables and the 15% leather vulnerbility. Not everyone knows how to swap weapon on you, and even if they do colders will still pack a punch.

Should you rethink using a more expensive template a friend of mine made this. It could be customized for your high qui by swapping the necklace with Necklace of Cyclopean Stature, and craft in resists instead of qui.

Viper 3 vs 36 body, around 80 each tick= around 500 damage
Posion spike using resistence of ancients about 80 each tick= around 500 damage
Weapon skill debuff = about 500 hits
Malice proc= 400 hits more

If you have less 2000 hits assasins can make 1 or 2 garrotes and later run, you gonna die.

No chance for melee rangers, respec and put bow and mos 5 is the best you can make.

Oh yes kill 1 assasin each 15 min with your purge your ip your battler your WH and fz, no more if try solo :).

Think that's very wrong. A proper melee ranger will or atleast should not die to 2 garrotes, PS, poisons and malice debuff.

Specially not if you can counter with all those toys they have access to.

RF 19% ABS, Leather 9% ABS.

Admittedly SB's has Evade VII vs rangers Evade III.

FZ... combined with battler... => I win vs leather armour.

IP... 50% selfheal in combat at lvl 2... says it all.

The realm buffs? No haste unless you wanna run an item charge or Healer bot along with the shammy. So the ranger could choose a second char to buff, either a ward for sists + bubble or a verd ani for the ABS buff?

@RR7-8+ with 15 mins out of combat and all the preperations you need I'd like to see you beat a well kitted ranger.

I mean, a sb can get the same artifacts than a melee ranger, all but braggart's bow (nice /use2) and WH, sb's get Phoebus instead, so no adventage from better artifacts.

That's all about your template, fit a LW at the sb template and high PD rangers will be a cake, he will be able to change from magic dmg to phisical dmg at any time, the only class who can do it changing no weapons.

Can't understand this, ... the problem is sb deal almost x2 style dmg than rangers? , pretty sure any ranger would be glad to get 2.0 growth rate style, even suffering the most from magic shielding.

PF is a joke, only 42 PF AF shield gives better protection than AF charges and only a few points, around 8-12. Dmg add just doesn't worth to a melee ranger, the only nice at PF is the speed boost, easily countered by any dmg.

better evade gives deffense and better dmg at a time, I would pick evade 7 instead of reinf. Things would change if finally mythic gives Warlord ML to rangers, 19% abs+battler+warguard would be quite OP at stealth wars.

Got a melee ranger and I use AF charges, can't see a problem with AF charges, it's only 1 minut to use another items, and about haste there are crafted haste potions with only 5 seconds delay to use another item, up to 15% haste.

Me too, sorry Emmet, but what race is your ranger? thrust dmg is a hard way to go, as sb's and infiltrators, our harders enemies are 10% resistant to thrust.

cost, about 30ish plats.. not that much imo, also, i dont like that much charges :D takes place on my qb and getting pissed when they are down etc.. like WH, only 5 min timer, and i keep thinkiing "damn.. that charge could have saved me.. i hate WH" or something

A melee ranger succes becouse of OP charges, think it twice, try to fight assasins without OP charges will be a painfull way.

End pots? SW? And your forgetting that most rangers has something called a bow, eg. moving from the target is either gonna break the fight or you'll be forced back into melee range unless your arrow immune.

However you have acces to diffrent class specific items, and the SB has more skills to cap eg (Stealth, Weapon, CS, LA, Enven) vs. (rangers Stealth, Weapon, CD, and questionable bow.) Leaving room for a better utillity temp for the ranger. And putting in a legendary? Sure, however that will reduce your template utillity, less ToA bonuses aswell. And you lose out on any effective procs apart from the leggie dd + debuff. And if you want to run 2 leggies you lose either Malice or Battler. In case you decide only 1 legendary you will still suffer from the high Physical resists. (CL reists, buffed resists, AoM also negates the leggie advantage.) All this is in a ranger vs sb scenario, not in how they compete with other classes because that means a close walkthrough on pretty much every class out there.

Where did you learn to calculate? 1.03 + 0.75 / 2 = 0.89.
Not twice which should be 0.59 * 2 = 1,18.
Diffrence is 0.89 - 0.59 = 0.3 Where your asumption is 1.18 - 0.89 = 0.29 wrong.
The diffrent growth rates means that some of the SB class strenght lies in it's higher style damage which is negated on a larger scale by the magic shielding.

PF is a joke, only 42 PF AF shield gives better protection than AF charges and only a few points, around 8-12. Dmg add just doesn't worth to a melee ranger, the only nice at PF is the speed boost, easily countered by any dmg.

PF however can not be countered by any form of purge ect. like envenom can. The lvl 21 DA on my 247 qui, 4.1 speed mainhand 3.7 speed offhand ranger adds about 20. damage with a minor 4.7 of 7.6 at the most used high pf spec of 36.

1) RF has no 15% disavantage to legendaries which is a huge flaw.
2) I do admit that a higher evade would be nice, however with about 320+ dex + evade III you don't do that badly. On this point your also forgetting that if you get stunned / zephyred ect. you will not be able to evade thus your character will rechive much more damage.

The point of zephyr is not to land some uberhard growthrate styles but to bypass any defence your opponent might have. With a swingspeed of 1.6 or so will allow you 8 hits, where the last should be an icestorm for an additional 5 seconds of beating. Knowing that you do not blow zephyr straight off an icestorm / malice / battler charge or whatever could have been used and caused the SB to blow purge earlier.

I brougt it up which was maybe a mistake, this is not about the classes but relying on other types of character to aid you. However this would require the SB to now pop a haste charge, an AF charge, SoM, PH and then 1½ in order to use whatever charge you wish from the start of the combat. Those 10 mins will quickly pass.

Havn't you just been trying to proove SB's has the same toys? Sure you have to spend points in timers, but it's part of the class' style and it costs shitloads of realm skill points. It's a silly arguement. Fight without viper + poisonspike vs melee rangers and you'll see how well you fare.

poison can be purge? JA reaply?

Sb, ns, or infil only need reaply each swing and take 110 damage add from poison, or is a mistake?

The point of zephyr is not to land some uberhard growthrate styles but to bypass any defence your opponent might have. With a swingspeed of 1.6 or so will allow you 8 hits

Havn't you just been trying to proove SB's has the same toys? Sure you have to spend points in timers, but it's part of the class' style and it costs shitloads of realm skill points. It's a silly arguement. Fight without viper + poisonspike vs melee rangers and you'll see how well you fare.

That means the Ranger fights without PD and IP ? Or IP and Purge?

You said it yourself WH will block more damage from the SB rather than the ranger thus will it be a ranger advantage. Imagine no magic shielding had existed and calculate on the % amount of damage the SB would do more than the ranger before and after a magic shielding, you'd find that the damage diffrence is lowered.

Maybe look at the dates of the posts this was written prepatch /slap

10 seconds FZ followed by an icestorm with no chance of evade.
