Media Players (HDD or Network)

Hey guys,

I'm looking for a hard disk based media player or a network streamer type if they are any better. I would mod my xbox but it is 400 miles away and too big. So you get the idea of what I'm looking for. Basically something that will act like a modded xbox with xbmc.

I have found these:

The second is purely a network streamer but I have no idea if they are any good or not.

Do any of you have any experience of this stuff? If so opinions are welcome. Even harsh ones (just not about my mother).

Component/RGB scart out is preferable but not essential

Neither of those look any good. This is supposed to be fairly good, would replace your DVD player as well http://www.snazio.com/Links/Net DVD Cinema(new).htm

Either of these will play almost any video files from an SMB share over ethernet or wireless. That's you best bet, then you can play any videos you have on your network, instead of being tied to built in storage.

theres nowt about that will give you what xbmc gives you. if you want a funky small box then, you could fit an xbox into a smaller case with out the dvd drive. its been done might increas the cost tho.

You can get a brand new Xbox and 4 games from Argos, for £50.
Dunno what else you need to softmod/chip it though.

also with xbmc its worth signing up, to Xs forums and subscribing to xbmc sub forum peeps are always working on releasing nifty new scripts tweaked skinz etc
for xbmc almost every day
