The thing that annoys *me* about spelling and grammar on forums and IRC is that some people think that it's ok to bastardise every word and generally not bother to try and make any sense merely because "it's only the internet". When you write letters, use the phone, or fax, are you so lax with your basic grasp of the English language? No, of course you aren't. So why do it on the internet? It's still a form of communication, and the spelling and grammar is the most important part of communicating with the written word.

You really need to learn the difference between past, present, and future tenses. I understand that's taught at primary school frankie, due to the fact that you don't understand it, that must mean you have the mental capacity of a 7-10 year old.

I therefore conclude that you don't actually have (or will have in the future?) more intelligence than me (as my hypothesis suggested). I also believe you're the only person who doesn't understand this to be true.

So I was out one day....
and i found this frog

Absolutely spot on.

I'm literally staggered at the number of inaccurate uses of the word "your" and "you're" on the Internet. For a while I thought it was merely the mainstay of forums where unmoderated thoughts are allowed to proliferate without reprise. I have seen countless professional (one presumes vetted) editorial content containing this glaring error, and other classics besides.

My pet hate besides general slackness in spelling/grammar is people who use words they don't know how to spell. Like "inadequacys".

Man the fact I had to edit that to fix an error kinda renders my whole argument obsolete really...

Incidentally, it's funny how in discussions over spelling/grammar everyone feels the need to flex their own literary might by using all kinds of words that they would not normally do in "normal" forum posts.

Naturally I would not diminish my own untarnished standing by resorting to such ill-advised and downright questionable behaviour.

the whole problem is not peoples use of grammar and spelling its peoples typing ability. Me for example, my fingers are forever hitting the wrong key without me noticing, or sometimes I type so fast I'm typing in the wrong order. Then before hitting the submit reply button I can't be arsed to check it. I would imagine a lot of people are the same.
