Sorry for a long and only half amusing post guys.......

Does anyone have a real email addy for this offworld company?
I mean I BUY (DOWNLOAD) the latest XP version of VirusScan and errr IT DELETES ALL MY MAIL.

I go to the faq's and they KNOW ABOUT THIS - and they have a patch for it - but they can't be arsed to put it in their latest download version?

You find out about the problem when you open your email after installing VirusScan and your 'in', 'out' and 'sent' boxes format themselves, then you get the registration email from McAfee - which it promptly 'self deletes' so you dont get the registration details.

I mean what a bunch of total wan*ers - last time I ever buy anything from them.

I have to laugh at myself - the only time I have ever experienced loss of data is when I put so called 'data protection' software on my pc.

Oh dear. We use McAfee at work but not the home version.

Sounds a bit shitty, though. McAfee have created their very own virus.

Don't all virus protection companies do that? :D

I used to have mcafee, but it repedeadly failed to clean up a certain Magistr virus that got the best of this PC for a month or so.

I recommened Norton Antivirus anyway; cleaned it up straight away and havent had any problems since.

Ive heard Mcafee have other issues with their internet security package. Make sure you DEMAND compensation from them in and do it in writing, an email will be ignored.

Good luck.

I gave up on McAfee about 2 years ago when their download updates repeatedly refused to work properly, the final straw was when the Boot Sector scan froze the machine after I changed to an AMD CPU/motherboard system, subsequent updates never solved it.

I've had Norton AV ever since, the online update is simple and easy and works every time, I even paid the rather humble sum of £2.50 to keep my subscription going another year.

I've never had any problems with Norton and Windows 98SE, it has picked up all viruses, whether they are downloaded, e-mailed, sent via MSN Messenger, etc.

I have Sophos from me olde man's work. Tis da best i've ever used.

Not very well known I don't fink coz they mostly deal with government and commercial security rather than home stuff.

I've slated McAfee before for being unhelpful money-grabbing useless cunts (allegedly.) Do a search for it if you want more reason to be angry :)
