From what I'm reading at the moment might go for 2x 970 in SLI same region of cost as a 980 and a number of the cards can run silent, insane.You can get a 290x for the same price as a 970, but yeah. It's nice AMD/Nvidia being out of step because it forces their prices down in cycles.
Yeah the only shitty thing is they suck at 4k because they put a 256bit bus so the 780ti is still better for it.
On which benchmarks ? http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/nvidia-geforce-gtx-980-970-maxwell,review-33038-9.html doesn't show the effect you describe.Which is nonsense, you can clearly see that the 970/980 win at 1080p and 1440, but start losing at 2160, simply because of the bus size.
