This change ofc nerfed friars to bits and pieces, cause your averige briton has a najs balance of str/dex, but can never have that much dex (400 anyone?). So what they did whas increase the ws for friars a tat to compensate, but it never has bin up par melee wise. Some may say, so what? They are hybrids for a reason.

then again you can argue that casters aren't built for melee so why skew staff melee in their favour?

seems a bit silly to all get into this state of paranoia over a new class and start directing hate towards people who are excited or motivated by the idea of a new toon. At the very least it makes for a new fight and a new challenge. Might be hideously OP but then thats daoc and a lot of existing classes are ridiculous in certain situations already.

i play classic on usa.. and tbh on bossiney there isnt as many maulers about.. i see TONS more heros/armsman.

im pretty sure most will roll em just for bgs.. and not that many will go all out.. some will ofc. cos they are v strong 1v1 .. but if USA anything to go by there wont be"to many" about.. and IMO they aint as strong as most people on USA boards make out.

on toa server id imagine

i was saying what i have seen beating them m8 so we are saying the same thing about 3v1 ie 99% of the time 3 or more will take one down have seen them handle 2 or 3 light tanks/stealthers and come away with 50% hp but that is dropping RA's on them to stay up. tbh till maulers get there toys from the RA's they arent much harder than a vamp

edit if any one has the 2fg mauler pve raid of coop server i'd love to get it back

Pheonix strike chain has no positional.. its the non 50 fw maulers whome need frontal arc. and from what ive seen most tend to go 50fw cos the dd proc on ps is uber

I'm fairly sure when cata's first came out everyone whined and complained about how heretics were crap at FG rvr. I've got a feeling maulers could be much the same.. Once a decent group works out how to utilise the util of a high RR one well more people will start including them.

I suprisingely beat maulers quiet often in 1v1 in Thid with my Skald. And he's specced 23 battlesongs 17 hammer and crap gera.

theres the maulers downfall, it needs to be hit in order to gain more power, however it does have a powertap in power strike line.

maulers can chose to spec grp spec too they have loads of nice toys for grps they have twf auras(like reavers) grp hot, pbt, root, snare, DD, silince (the caster killer) NS damping, both taps ie making them a dam good interupter as for strating oop get a gray/green to aggro you then let it power you up all the time like a pet as most mauler stuff is combat cast
if they spec for grps they can still hold there own in mellee to by going staff 34

Well, to be honest, I havent looked into that class yeat.. maybe intercept on the WL can help it up a bit, coz EVERYONE wants to hit that bugger

Maulers are pure easy mode.

as for pve, maulers kick ass useing FW weapons. i tryed staff for pve but wasnt getting same speed or dmg from useing FW. i specced 44FW, 44Aura, 22PS while solo lvling and well haveing the red heal tick and high lvl evade proc was my best option, as i was taking on and killing 3/4 yellows or 2 ++reds or 1 purple con mob.(please note, not at same time) and well to me this is insane as they was all dead within no time at all.

now being lvl50 i changed spec to 50FW, 36Aura, 22PS, 7Mag. this is my RvR spec (not sure on spec). with this i get the lvl50 FW move, and OMG it kicks ass in RvR and PvP and i hits like a 20st fat man about to jump on ya !!111!! but now i really miss my heal tick as ony got the lvl34 tick now . but i still have yellow evade proc so i can stun evade move :worthy: . i also still have the same endo drain, but tbh i always use endo pots but still having 22PS help in RvR. 7Mag give a little insta root.

i didnt choose a mino for my race, as i didnt want people going " kill the cow first". also being a celt i have higher quickness :worthy:

as for the labby! its a "Stealthers wet dream paradise". leading up to the labby from agramon bridge solo, u will 70% die. because on us-server, thats where the zergs lke to play. as for in side the labby there some nice 8v8 action, laggy as hell, but good!

it allso got a powertap style at 12 in FW i think. and most people use the end drain instead of power train since they share timers

For people wondering what primary stats needed for weapons for mauler

Fist Wrap: 100% Str
Mauler Staff: 100% str

For staff maulers go norseman/celt/briton
For wraps maulers go Minotaur

i hope this info is enough for those interrested in rolling maulers, to bad they dont really give anything good for groups, otherwise i would of rolled one when i moved to US servers

they have ok damage and RR5 which is the same as SB3 which gives power back to the mino ;\ AE snare and TWF so not all that bad nothing special though
