He looks about eleven. Is it, maybe, that as one gets older policemen and Doctor Who look younger ?

Maybe they'll axe it now. Yay!

Tbh I think they will. The Tennant thing worked because because Billie was there to cussion the blow for the fans, people don't like change so when only half of the program changed it was easier for them. Then Tennant turned out to be quite good. So unless they find a good assistant before the switch it might die again.

It isn't a terrible programme, but it is not as good as the BBC seem to think it is. The amount of coverage they gave Doctor Who and (the godawful) Robin Hood with their own critics praising both (extremely PC) programmes to the max was quite an embarrasment.

Dr Who is good fun. Not to be taken seriously. The Stephen Moffatt episodes were always high quality.

Robin Hood is dire though.

This guy is a local bloke, and as a result every single local rag is bigging him up constantly now. 25 murders in a single street wouldn't be able to get on the front page of any of their websites because Matt Smith is the new Dr Who.

Don't get me wrong, I think Dr Who is shit but you do know you can change the channel right?

It isn't that, we know we can change the channel that is our choice. What isn't our choice is the licence fee that seems to pretty much get spent on this god awful program, then it saturates every single second of the BBC (so it seems).

2 programs on the BBC (used to be) worth the licence fee, they are Top Gear and Match of the Day, which is now pretty much unwatchable due to jug ears and his constant gurning and smugness and don't even get me started on the commentators in the games "wow it would be great if someone would score on this next attack......WHAT A GOAL!!!!!!" well yeah thanks for not making that fucking obvious you *****.

Then the BBC cuts the Top Gear budget for the next series

If you like Dr Who then thats fair enough but you can surely see why the people who don't like it tend to be bitter.

The BBC is a fucking joke run by wankers and paid for by us poor saps.

well on that thinking m8 get rid of eastenders cos i cant fucking stand soaps youll not meet many ppl who like every program the BBC airs we would all love to have a channel that only airs what we enjoy unfortunately thats never gonna happen. we all have individual taste and the BBC as a buisness has to cater to that fact. take the good with the bad :)

All it takes to kill Dr Who is a bad doctor n shoddy assistants - thats what killed it last time.

I have no idea about this new kid but I thought the last series started the rot by having a celebrity assistant which was awful last time and poor this time.

Still who knows (pun un-intended :p) - the new kid may be great - will have to wait n see...

I have no idea who Matt Smith is, looked him up and have never watched or heard of anything he has been in. I will give it a shot, hes got to be better than Catherine Tate I missed most of the last series cause she was in it.

This is what I'm saying though, there was 2 programs and only 1 now that I think the BBC is worth paying for, they could block every other program for me apart from Top Gear and stop fucking stealing my money. Infact they could block every bloody program and I would download Top Gear from the net. Actually I hope another channel buys TG.

BBC caters for very few people out of the ones who pay for it.

Who the fuck watches Strictly Come Dancing which ran for half a fucking year in the Saturday night prime time slot?

I aren't having a go at Dr Who I am having a go at the BBC, yes I think Dr Who is utter shit but if it floats your boat fair enough but the BBC wear it like a fucking crown as though it has justified the fee just by making a semi popular show.

I think how we pay for the licence and what we get needs reviewed.

We're on the brink (some say we're there with bit torrent and tools like the iPlayer or BT vision) of mass downloadable high definition content where you can get what you want when you want it.

i agree with both of ya most of the stuff on bbc these days i dont watch cos i think its absolutely shit but the problem is m8 we are the minority

http://www.barb.co.uk/report/weeklyTopProgrammesOverview

ppl do like soaps and reality shows and celebrity faceoff shows etc the bbc arent going to make programs that dont pull in the viewers if it aint broke dont fix it thats just the way of world ppl would rather watch trashy soaps and celebrities dance.

this is why i have sky theres ton of shit on there too but at least i can almost always find something that i will enjoy

the way things are going with the internet on demand will become the next big form of media

also some thing i can envisage for the future will be much like the websites that track your tastes in music and offer you alternatives television is set to follow that trend i reckon allowing us to make customisable tv channels

i retract my statement about channels showing what we want :) they wont be channels as we know them now but im sure eventually they will exsist

Always better with a face no-one knows these days. People though it'd be that tosser from the Yellow Pages ad's who got the part...seen him in lots of things and he cannot act. As with almost all modern "actors" they simply can't act and can only play themselves so everytime you see then you see ever character they have ever played, not the character they are attempting to portray.

Oddly someone mentioned Catherine Tait who is a classically trained actress and i thought was very good in the part.

the problem was with catherine tate she was well known so everyone had pre defined oppinions of her and to be fair to the lass she was good in the later episodes but for the first 2-3 all i could see was the comedian

with a show like dr who you need someone who isnt bigger than the show hence i hope they will always cast unknowns in the role of dr who

I dunno, David Tennant had already made quite a name for himself and is a ruddy good actor IMO.
