Interesting, perhaps we're going to see a Elder Scrolls MMO coming in the future :)

And for those who don't know who Matt Firor is, he's one of the founders of Mythic Entertainment.

And on Topic... xD

I thought this forum was called Off-Topic...

Anyway, it sounds interesting. Bethseda obviously have a decent amount of resources and some good designers and Matt Firor will have a lot of insight into what works (and what doesn't work!) in an MMO. I'll be looking with interest at what comes out of this little partnership.

Oh..."these are not the nuts you are looking for" :D

Although a FOMMO would be great, i don't think it would be -that- good. Have to see what they do with the FO product conserning 3 first.

Also, MMO genre would probably kill some of the basic ideas of FO, free world, sandbox gaming, anything goes.

have to disagree with that tbh

there is plenty of stuff in there, and player run towns and whatnot would be doable, and as for "rvr" type stuff, plenty of factions you could work in, slavers and whatnot, to give people an angle to work

Yes, but to keep the FO genre type alive, in other words the sandbox gaming gore, you would have to have quite an extensive amount of content in there to bring the feel of, say, FO2.

You can make your character exactly like you want, you can "complete" the game as you like, you can be good/evil and still get rewarded, you don't have to follow any rules/regulations.

Just by making player run towns and setting different factions to work for, is only scratching the surface of the FO genre. And that's a non-fanboi statement.

To give such freedom as FO series(proper parts of it) gives the player, to thousands of players, would require some delicate balancing and imaginative effort to make it work.

Imagine a scenario:

Guy tells player A to bring him a pendant a kid has.
Player B arrives to the kid before player A.
Player B pulls out his vindicator minigun and makes sushi out of the kid.
Player B...umm...well...waits for respawn?

Now, ok, respawnable people. Fine enough.

Player B also likes to kill other players, so the vindicator goes towards player A.

Player A bites the dust.

Player B continues to mow down people around that part and player A comes back.

Player B "vindicates" the kid again, shoots off player As leg and runs off.

Player A does what? Petitions? Can't, this is FO, anything goes.

Just a simple problem in a MMO style FO.

You could ofcourse forget the parts of FO that don't work in an MMO, but then you'd be making a game that...well..wouldn't be as FO as it could be.

Not saying this is impossible, just saying it's one heck-of-a-feat to pull off.

there's a bad way?

Yes, getting hard looking at pictures of you would not be good. Well not unless you are packing a pair of bubbies and a furry minge box in which case I will very much be hard in a good way as I am beating off whilst looking at your photos! :D :p ;)
