mastery of block 3 or det5 for tanks in rvr

I've got MoB3...but that's because I'm a Paladin and can't get determination :(

hmm...det is good for the mezzes and stuns you will have throwed in your head.

Although blocking is both nice to be a healer/shammie/pbt guard....and good in pve too :)

But truely you should go for det...5 seems a bit high to start out with. Perhaps 3 or 4 and then get the blocking up.

if you are a mid - det5, if you are alb or hib and dont spec 1h - mob3.

Anyone who can get deter should get lvl 5 before anything.

not really two RAs that can be compared.

Determination gives reduction in duration to more than just messes that people mention, but all negative effects. You'd be crazy to avoid it!..


I'm a strong deter fan, dont have purge because it seems pointless with determination, why waste 4 points, 10 (pure, hybrid whatever it costs you) for an extra button that needs fannying around on qbars to find only to realise you have 20 mins left to use it. Max determination, its always there when you want it.


flame my anti purge notion all anyone wants, yet to meet anyone that dislikes that RA other than me, but its a waste if determination is availible to you imo.

MoB is useless when stunned/messed whatever for ages due to little/no deter, and people are having fun styling on your side/rear.

Pandemic, you should respec out of Determination, it is currently bugged and does not work at all. I recommend all Mid and Hib tanks to focus on taking Mastery of Water, Lifter, and Veil Recovery to level 5.

i wonder.... i just thought of this since the last post i read was about people whinging to hell about dragonfang, (dont scold me yet, this is related). and since were on the subject of mastery of blocking, tanks get this nice style called slam (an anytime style might i add), AND have this luvly RA called mastery of blocking, is it deemed fair that the tank should not have some kind of block cap? a tank with 50 shield gets brutalise (12 sec stun offa block), now we infys have to spec 50 thrust (which does not affect our evade rate) to get a 9 sec stun offa an evade, which IS capped at 50%, meanwhile all shield speccers get the afore said slam at 42, as an anytime style. but, that being irrelevant, my question is, because we infs get a cap on evades, and thus a direct effect on dragonfang, shouldnt tanks get a 50% cap on blocking? thus having a direct effect on brutalise? (not that many people have this spec, but its all relative).

p.s. if i sound like im blethering out of my arse, i probably am. its late.

take determ5, laugh at bard or sorc when they try to do some sort of funky mezz / root on ya, after that go killem (damn iam talking against myself now i think).

think brutalise is 10 sec stun and any dual user cuts block in half which kinda fucks ur block somewhat try guarding a caster when stormriderx is on him it dont work :)
50% is way more than i block against dual users and as its mostly them who go after the support capping block at 50% would have no effect really

nah kinda torn between the 2 both have lots to recomend them mob3 very good if running sm/warrior grps and det5 kinda needs no explanation

besides rr8 is still kinda noobish :) i got lots to learn still

pandemic you should get a clue also how to use your warrior in rvr rofl, ask jawz/soruu for some advices how you guard in rvr maybe then mob3 will be useful.

btw jawz was the guy who taught me how to use a warrior in rvr when i used to run with np 4 a while

MoB3 won't help you when you are mezzed right next to the person who needs guard and your purge is down. ^_~
