How much did Minecraft cost for the one creator that made it, compared to a game like Mass Effect?

You can't even compare those two games at all, same goes for football manager. I like games with a satisfying ending in it, not a game that goes on and on and on and on.

And if you want, you can play games like ME over and over again, where there can be different endings every time if you choose to play a different style.

First off, the guy that made Minecraft is now a very rich fella It didnt cost him anything to make it(except for the hours spent on it), and have sold 738555 copies(You do the math).

As for gameplay, ofcourse I like gameplay, but it all comes down to what type of game it is, and what quality this game is(Story, characters, GFx etc etc).

I actually saw a article a couple years ago, that different types of games should have different lenghts of gameplay. This is because, people don't like too long games, and wants a ending to feel the satisfaction of actually completing it.(People would rather have a 60 hour long game with a awesome story, then a 600 hours long game witch just keep getting dragged out and bores them in the end.)

This also goes the other way around, a game can't be too short, but there is a magical line here.

It's just like watching a movie at the cinema. It should neither be too short nor too long(I've been more furious about too long movies, rather then short ones).

Market for games is HUUUGE now, and there is competitions between the companies, which makes them want to make the game as good as possible.(You won't reach the top, if people won't buy your game. And having a crappy reputation because you have produced bad games, will make people stop buying them).

Just because you don't like games like ME, and are too cool to follow the mainstream! Does not make the game bad, I am sure hundreds of thousands players can tell otherwise. Especially about Mass Effect!

Typical fan boy, 60 hours of gameplay for £30-40? that is pretty bad no matter how good the game is, for £30-40 I expect atleast 1-2 weeks..

Game Developers like BioWare only care about cash now, long gone are the days that they care about the players, which I applaud Notch (Mojang) for and Sports Interactive..

There has been eight Call of Duty games in eight years, that is a disgrace.

Eh? Close how? It is set on earth which is under seige, that is nothing like the story of ME2 but a continuation of the war started in ME1. Style? Of course the style is the same, you need consistency to tell a compelling story.

Who the heck sits 60 hours non-stop playing a game? Let's say about roughly 4 hours a day(even that is alot), the game would last 15 days. And there you go, you're 2 weeks of gameplay

And ofcourse BW is trying to earn money, thats their freaking job. ME3(Not MA3 ) have been under development for almost 3 years when it releases, so imo it is not rushed at all.

Anyway, I dont care if they use 1 year, 2 years or 3 years on a game, or how much money to make out of it. aslong as the game is good!

Honestly not that excited. Mass Effect 2 had a real case of terrible corridor shooter and the "RPG" elements were so watered down that you could find better in normal shooters.

I also don't have much hope for the "choice" thing they keep insisting on. Mass Effect 1's choices had such widespread consequences for the 2nd one's plot, am I right? Or wait, no it didn't. It changed diddly squat.

I'm actually a bit worried about BioWare lately, they seem to be moving steadily away from what used to make their games great towards some territory of mock RPG's with no replayability. Maybe I've just lost faith after seeing the mess they've made of Dragon Age 2, and watching what good writing and dedication to story elements can achieve with a good team behind them(Obsidian's two most recent games).
