Its japanese, it has a tiger on it, its matt instead of shiny and most bike hats are shiny, its japanese, its got kanji on it, its japanese...
I probably missed a few things but thats the gist of it![]()
Not sure, saw one for £90 in the 'boro this weekend but probably going to cost more down here in norfolk![]()
daft? DAFT??? You would look cool in this hat no matter what you do!
Get a Schuberth C2 in matt-black and add paint-job at will.
Beware to use proper paint cos using solvents-based paint might compromise the shell's integrity.
Probably better and cheaper.
[EDIT]
£90.- ??
I would try one before you buy, because those prices usually have a reason, like extreme noise, or instability at speed, or totally fogging up when it's raining.
Read reviews and don't just pick it because of the looks, because when you actually have to use it, really, the looks mean crap.
How much would you normally spend on a bike helmet?
edit: surely you would always try helmets before buying?
If you're gonna use thousands on the thing that's going to kill you, i'd use plenty of cash on the thing that saves me.
There's no pricelimit on a helmet.
I'm not going to spend more than £200-250 on a helmet unless its got night vision and a heads up display worthy of a jetI get paid well, but I havent won the lottery yet.
And how much did your bike cost?
Like i said, helmet will save you when the bike will try to kill you. Not the place to save money.
I've got a Schuberth C2. I don't know what exactly I paid for it, but was something around €400.-
That built-in sunvisor is a lifesaver. There's nothing as blinding as a sudden sun-burst when exiting a tunnel for example. Had a few close encounters with that, where a sudden dim/bright change could've easily make me miss a corner.
That sounds familiar... I think I looked at the C2 a while back but I was recommended something else in the end.
Its a really nice helmet, I personally thought it was kinda cool, but for me the problem is it seems like you're paying £100 extra for the sunvisor system which I wasnt sure about - I prefer the tinted anti-glare visors instead personally, as you said its the sudden sunlight that can cause a hazard, but for the visor to be effective you have to have it down almost all the time anyway.
I agree that you should never skimp on saftey gear, but I still maintain that £100~ for a helmet really isnt skimping at all.
I cant summon that Dukat. It's too big. I can summon a hampster or bottle of Coke Zero if you're interested....or the money to buy the hat?
