The difference is i have not claimed any of our players to be best in the world this season :)

None of your players have scored 38 goals including a number of wonder goals, infact you team has played with as much flair as Blackpool. Ronaldo has been head and shoulders above anyone in England this year, that is why he is being touted as a potential 'best player in the world'. He hasn't won that award yet so he cannot lay claim to it and while he might be the best player in the world on current form it means nothing without silverware. If we get that silverware he was the major driving force behind it.

Back to Chelsea, Grant and Jose before him has taken great players and reduced them to a side that play ugly football. Oh how we all long for the Chelsea of 3 years ago when they had dynamic wingplay at frightening pace. You might still win things this season I cannot deny but no one will say that you did it in style. Not like you two championship winning years anyway.

Could all the ManU fans who slagged off Chelsea and Liverpool for playing boring crap football please form a nice orderly line to make their appologies. :flame:

United just didn't turn up today.. I can't think of one player who did anything even slightly of note. The only time I actually noticed Tevez and Roonie were on the pitch was while they were walking off after being subbed. Ronaldo after missing the penalty simply didn't look like the same player we've seen all season. What will probably be most interesting is seeing which version of him turns up at the Bridge on Saturday.

Bring back the zola Chelsea days, that was a team to watch. Even though they didn't win the premiership they still played amazing footy.

Man Utd were very lucky, outplayed imo for a vast majority of the game. Rony again showed everything bad about the game right now. Should be banned for the that petulant toddler like show.

Nice to see the Spanish players get straight up after tackles and not start waving imaginary cards at the ref.

the only imaginary card was by... oh a barcelona player. More specifically if was Deco. But that no surprise :p

United need to play the 4-5-1 at OT. That way we can try control the midfield which was our problem. Let Barcelona control it.

And if you came away as black and blue as ronaldo from a match, Im sure you would get pissed off. I know I used to when I played. Cant ban someone for punch the ground or looking to the heavens. Because if that was the case you need to ban anyone that complains about a refs decision, as least ronaldo doesnt call the ref a wanker or tell him to fuck off like most the players now days.

Always fun to see the anti-ronaldo brigade. Jealousy is a cruel thing.

As stated in a few previous posts he is gifted player and could be one of the best ever. I just hate all the diving and acting. I'm certainly not jealous of him. Only one reason to be jealous of a footballer and that would be money, Beckhams got way more so given a choice can I be jealous of Beckham?

Rony is one of the worst divers in the Premiership. PADI/BSAC should give him honourary membership! Given his talent its a real shame.

Even my 8 year son calls him a cheat having seen his many dives in slo mo, without promting or comments from me.

OT game you also need to loose Scholes, Carrick and Brown.

Funny that it's always Utd players that get blamed for diving, when every team has divers, but that doesn't matter.

ABU tossers were out in force last night in pub, really does make me laugh everyone is so jealous about Utd.

Don't think anyone is saying only Man Utd players dive. Just Rony is a high profile player and also one of the worst offenders. FA/FIFA needs to crack down on it big time next season. Any player caught diving should get fined and a match ban.

Nice to see the refs take action against verbal abuse recently, If stamped on and the players are made to change it will be better for football.

Go back and look at the tape, Iniesta was diving for fun. Ronaldo on the other hand had two legitimate penalties denied, yes it is his own fault because he does go to ground to easily on occasion and the refs know it but that doesn't change the fact that Barcelona effectively kicked him off the pitch last night and were shown a single yellow for it.

Ronaldo goes down more then most because he gets fouled more. Couple that with the speed he travels even the slightest knock will send him flying. It tough to keep balance when travelling at that speed and someone interupts your flow.

Yes I admit, at times he goes down easy, however you dont often see an outright dive by him. I could slow motion 80% of the "fouls" in a match and it would look like a dive because it doesnt give perspective of what actually happened.

There are alot worse divers in europe, hell there worse divers in the premiership, but due to the fact Ronaldo is high profile and possibly the worlds best player currently people like to make out he is the worse.

As for booking with dives, if it blatent it does get a booking. However the only real way to do it would be post match as scotland wished to do but were told they are not allowed. Reason? if you book for diving then the skillful players will be constantly banned as they are always going down, alot go down easy and players traveling with speed you need to see if there were even the slightest of conections or even if the player had to change his stride to avoid colusion as these will often result in a fall/stumble that on the spur of the moment one may call a dive.

I dont like blatent dives, I dont like players going down too easily, but as has shown all season with Rooney. If you are fouled and you dont go down then you dont get the decision. We lost so many penalty shouts this season because Rooney stayed on his feet and tried to make something off it. And yes, this worked to our advantage last night as if Eto'o on one the only times he done something went down from the ferdinand challenge, Barcelona would have had a clear penalty.

The ref didnt have the guts to mark another penalty in Camp Nou. It was even more clear than the first one.

Anyways, 0-0, great score for ManU. Its 75% odds for them being in the final imho. I'd suggest Fergi to watch last Almeria-Barca match

Were people watching the same game? I didnt see Ronaldo dive once and he had every right to be annoyed with the ref, because barca kicked lumps out of him. As much as it pains me, united had 2 clear cut penalties waved away.

Shocking display the ref.

Enjoyed the match, merely for the class shown by Messi. However even with United being average on the night we missed a pen, and were denied two others, getting a 0-0 draw while being average at best (I thought the passing was disgraceful) is a positive, when we get to Old Trafford and play our attacking form of football I expect Barcas defence to be tested alot more.

Of course a Barca goal changes the face of the game but If Sir Alex was asked at the start of the season that if he could be in the second leg of the CL semi final and he had to win to go to the final he would take it.

He needs to take a few lessons to be on par with Drogba.

If only more Football fans were as even handed, mucho respect to you for that.

I will return the favour now. I thought some of Barcelona's passing was sublime at times and there is no doubt in my mind now, Messi is the real deal. I am sure the fucker has blu-tac on his boots his close ball control is that good! :D

I missed the penalty but the second was a blatant dive. The third could have been penalty tho, really sloppy play by the defender.

Cristiano Ronaldo, he is a joy to watch on youtube. But when watching an entire united game you really get disgusted by his playstyle. He should take a leaf out of Messis book of überness.

Don't get ahead of yourself, that is no forgone conclusion. He has had a frigging amazing season but silverware will be what secures the award for him.

Sorry but you are in the minority, TV pundits and many people on this forum agree that the heavy contact on Ronaldo when he was bearing down on goal knocked him off centre as he was preparing to shoot. Infact it was a more nailed on penalty than the one that was given. If you can't see that then I suggest laser eye surgery. ;) :p :D

I thought shoulder to shoulder contact was allowed in football :( Sorry my mistake, thought football for a contact sport :(

It wasn't just shoulder to shoulder, get your eyes tested. The leg was used as well to knock Ronaldo off centre at as he was bearing down on goal, hell Marc is a Barcelona die-hard and even he concedes the point. Read the rules, physical contact where you play the man and not the ball and that denies someone a goal scoring oppurtunity is a foul which in the 18 yard box constitutes a penalty. I am sorry if you don't agree but you are wrong, the defender made no attempt to play the ball as it was a good 18 inches from his outstreched leg, he used his body to knock the man off centre because he knew the ball was too far away.

/qft

Played the man and not the ball.. Didn't even look at the ball, just ran straight in to put Ronaldo down

But then again Lethul has something with not seeing penalties

Marquez didnt even go for the ball, he came across and took Ronaldo out. Its as clear cut a penalty as you will ever see

Rio Ferdinand is a fucking machine. Best centre back in the world right now, fact. Man of the match by a country mile.

that bad news for chelsea, and feel sorry for Lampard even if I dont like the guy.

pneumonia can be a fickle thing. Kills a 58 year old, however partners gran at the age of 98 (99 in a couple weeks) whilst weak from recovering from a broken shoulder pulls through and survives. Makes us realise how lucky (or in many respects unlucky) she was to some our come out the other side alive.

...

and as for the 2nd penalty appeal, the so called dive. The guys shoulder did not connect at all. If you watch the reply he actually hits ronaldo with the full force of his hip, and then followed through. a good 3yrds away from the ball. the clearest penalty I seen in a long time. It was a stone wall penalty, unlike the 1st which you see often go unpunished. I agree the 1st was a penalty though, not because of bias, but because if you raise your hands up in the air and it connects with the ball you need to be punished as you got no reason to go in with hands raised.

this may upset some, however...

... does Carrick even know how to tackle? Scholes was far superior to him in that area. Every time Carrick moved towards an opponent, he just streched his legs and made them run past him. He was by far the worst player out there.
