What a load of bollocks, that's not the way football works. If everything evented itself out, Carlisle will be European champions in a few years.

i know its not the way football works, all im saying is that the 1st wasn't a penalty but the cole-ronaldo incident was a stonecold cert penalty, therefore it in some twisted way evened itself out. If Riley hadn't been fooled by Rooney, he would have given the Ronaldo penalty its as simple as that.

And why are you so sure Carlisle won't be European Champions in a few years, they have a better chance than say Swindon ever will.

But then if Arsenal weren't a goal down, they would have been playing differently and Ronaldo would have been no where near the penalty area ;)

Gekul's exactly right. If Rooney hadn't "won" a penalty, Man Utd wouldn't have scored so Arsenal wouldn't have been quite so attacking, throwing bodies forward and leaving themselves vulnerable to the counter-attack. Therefore, it's entirely likely Ronaldo would never have been bought down by Cole.

Because half of the fun of football is arguing about it? ;)

What if the ref hadn't have given a pen for Rooneys dive though? The following events would have been different. At least the ref is consistent, 8 games 8 pens for Man U. He has a better strike rate than any of their overrated strikers. :)

you cannot guarentee that it would have been different, Arsenal would have attacked more with thought for defense but I don't think the Utd would have just stood there and took it the would have tried to attack as well.

Riley has given 8 pens in 8 games for Utd at OT but he also gave us a penalty there as well last season, and I seem to remember us winning 1-0 because of it.

Well im bored of arguing this one with Man U fans, i can take great comfort in Arsenals charity work for the mid-table teams though.
