Just been reading that Diarra the main target for SAF this season is favouring a move to real madrid.

You think the days of when you attracted some of the top players are now over ?

With Arsenal signing Rosicky and no doubt liverpool will sign new players. I feel you will struggle to compete this season.

*Shrugs*. Too early to tell. People were saying the same last year when Ballack lost interest, but United still ended up having a good season (don't forget they scored more points this year then a lot of their championship-winning years). United, Arsenal and Liverpool have all suffered over the years from players snubbing them for Spain or Italy, that's inevitable, and I don't see United suffering particularly in comparison to Liverpool or Arsenal; the real question is how long Ambramovich is willing to continue throwing money at Chelsea; I reckon if they picked up the European Cup he'd lose interest and go and buy a Formula 1 team or something, and then the mix would change. Right now, Chelsea could probably field two teams and finish both in the top four, and that skews the market because no-one else, even Real Madrid can sustain that.

Oh, and its too early to tell about Diarra, that story originated with the Spanish football press, who are even worse than ours. It wouldn't surprise me if it was true, but who knows?

personally im shocked at how the Van man is being treated seriously.. he was the top goal scorer for the club yes even ahead of rooney.

but sir alex has a way with treating top strikers who have a rough season.

I would have tried for Rosicky tbh 8m is a bargain for a world class midfielder. I expect Man U to make some big signings during after the World Cup, they know they need to strengthen the Midfield area and I believe they will.

We've always been weird in the Transfer market. Fergie seems to go for players who aren't that famous more often than not.

I would like diarra but not for the money quoted, I'm still holding out hope for mascherano, he looks more my type of player. :D

As for being over the hill, I'm not scared by any team other than chelsea tbh. Saying that though, rosicky was a damned fine buy at a decent price. Something english teams seem to find amazingly hard.

/edit
Also Dave Jones looks like another gem from the reserves closely followed by lee martin and a nice clutch of good strikers all behind rossi, waiting for a start.

An easy £12 million for United, least half the money we need for a world class central midfielder. Will be crap if Mikel turns out to be the real deal though.

I see it as hush money from Chelsea. Something has obviously gone on with that young man and his agent, rummours of death threats against his family, about it time it got sorted out either way.

Aada, I honestly think in this case he has been cooerced into joining chelski, not blinded by the success of the club.

Either way, if I were a premiership footballer I wouldn't want to join Chelsea.

Want a first team game? Get to the back of the queue and wait your turn for 2/3 years...

An easy £12m for Utd though, money we can spend on someone decent for the midfield.

And yes, I'm annoyed at how Ruud's being treated too - he certainly deserves better after the service he's given the club.

Fergi always seems to treat some of his players badly (once he's bored with them) Ie, Beckham, Kanchelski (how ever its spelt) Keane etc.

Just the type of boss he is.

He is a vindictive old **** thats for sure, he even turned on poor old Gordon Strachan when the fancy took him, he accused Strach of being a shit stirrer in the great Aberdeen side of the early 1980's. Why he waited 15 years to air this opinion I have no idea, Strach will never forgive him though, he has disowned United in recent years because of that nasty comment from Fergie. Pisses me off to see a United great having nothing to do with the club anymore just because Fergie is a miserable old tosspot.

Fergie is the boss at Man Utd. Anybody who forgets that gets shown the door - no exceptions.

Say what you like about him, his track record speaks volumes.
