It also seems they've put a £37m bid in for Berbatov, I'd rather we didn't sell to any english club, although it would be funny if City signed him. The only problem is that city are more of a rival for the 4th/5th spots than United are.

Thatll work as a nice blocker to prevent Berbatov going anywhere else then.

Well if he does sign for City then surely it trumps his so called 'dream to play for united' statement?

I was hoping for Newcastle to get Javier Saviola from Real Madrid to be honest they said they were going to get 1 last big name but they have not.

Hunteelar inbound to United in January if they don't get Berba.

I don't know but I was there on Friday filming Ricky Hatton in a fat suit, and I almost poked Ian Wright in the eye with my boom pole.

So there.

Quite suprised about Man City! Just wish someone would come in like this for Everton, woe woe woe :(.

Must have pissed off Abramovich to see someone richer than him come in and pretty much steal their target in just a few hours. Pretty fun!

Dont know whats happening with Everton though, dont think we're gonna be challenging the UEFA this season, specially with us going up against Liege.. Buying Carlo Nash? Saha i can SLIGHTLY understand, but from what i gather he is always injured...

Not being anything big apart from Man City really, never expected them to be topping the headlines, thats for sure.

Wonder how much Mark Hughes knew in advance about the Arabs? I always thought it was an odd decision for him to join City under Thaksin, especially after the way Ericsson was treated; but if he knew a new sugar daddy was on the way...

I'm kind of glad City got Robinho as well; better there than Chelsea (although the thought of City doing well makes me a bit queasy).

Well you just signed Liege best player, and for a club record fee. Not sure he is worth that much, but hey, you had to spend something to keep the fans off Moyes back.

I thought Carlo Nash did really well when he was at Stoke, he seems a very good keeper.

Man City are building a brazilian sqaud for sure lol

And with talk about them signing Brazilian Ronaldo on a pay per play basis once he is fit in November is just crazy.

Exciting times a head for the PL now tbh.

Keegan!

Im suprised, yet for some reason NOT suprised that this has occured. I really thought Keegan would finally stop this shit of them changing managers every few months.

I'm still in shock about the take over, let alone the Robinho deal. I didn't even know we had an offer from the arabs.

Guess our wage structure just went to hell.

The writing was on the wall as soon as the Dennis Wise appointment was made without even consulting Keegan. I'm surprised its taken this long; but maybe that's because Keegan's basically an honourable man and decided to give Ashley's structure a go until it was proved to be wanting.

Its being sold in the press as "Keegan sacked" but I don't think its that clear-cut; Keegan has (rightly) pushed back against Ashley's "divide and conquer" management style that left him without a real say in player recruitment, and Ashley's one of those self-made men entrepenuerial types who actually make very poor day-to-day managers, and certainly don't like backchat from their underlings (which it looks like Keegan has done). He thinks a football club can be run the same way as his shops and he's very much mistaken. Newcastle needs a change of ownership (again) as much as it needs a new manager.

Where? I couldn't find it. I think Citeh will be a threat, but not instantly. It took a few seasons and a new manager before before Abramoviches money paid dividends at Chelsea, and while I think Mark Hughes is a better manager than Claudio Ranieri, I still don't think they'll be instant top 4 material (although Liverpool are looking particularly shit right now); Robinho is unproven in England (and has suspect temperment), but of course in January I expect City to buy heavily again. Maybe next year United fans will be looking over their shoulder to Eastlands with a bit more concern.

And is Keegan off or not?

Apparantly he's been sacked, again!

Ashley hasn't a clue tbh.

He's not been sacked this time, and he wasn't sacked last time either:
Kevin Keegan - Official NUFC Statement | Newcastle United | nufc.co.uk | News | Latest News | Latest News
NUFC Press Release said:
NEWCASTLE United can confirm that meetings between members of the Board and manager Kevin Keegan were held both yesterday and today.

Kevin has raised a number of issues and those have been discussed with him.

The Club wants to keep progressing with its long-term strategy and would like to stress that Kevin is extremely important, both now and in the future.

Newcastle United values the effort and commitment shown by Kevin since his return to St. James' Park and wants him to continue to play an instrumental role as manager of the Club.

For the avoidance of doubt the Club has not sacked Kevin Keegan as manager.

I can't see Robinho making a big impact at City.

Brazilian with suspect temperament and Manchester's grey skies. He'll be gone next year, probably just before Hughes gets sacked for not delivering a top four finish.

City say they're going to make at least 18 signings and are looking to bid like £135mil for Dirty Ronaldo from the Mancs.

The new owners make Abramovich look like a pauper, and that much money for one player would be a very tempting offer for the Glazers - regardless of what Fergie says...

Fun times ahead? No. Not really. Just more shit ones.

What gaffer said about city, couldn't have said it better. I feel sorry for Keegan, the press have been saying he will quit since he came back. I thought he would do a terrible job, but to be fair he has not done that badly. Having his squad decimated without his say must be painful, as must doing press conferences saying that he is in charge of transfers when he cleary is not.

If he does go there will be calls for Shearer again, but Shearer is not stupid enough to go there as manager until they have a decent regime in charge.

Hes just not rich enough to own a top premiership club these days: hes only worth £1bn or so :m00:

He bought Newcastle, cleared (some?) of their debts - and that seemed to be the limit of what he wanted to invest. Fair enough, since we're talking £200m or something in that ballpark, but to get them to the 'top 4' level where the club would be making enough of a profit to give a return on that investment he'd need to invest the same again on the team.

Thats just not going to happen.
